Ayansh's POV
Life is unpredictable. Especially mine.
Dev Mittal's death became a big news but like always we managed it. The elders of the family knew what happened. More like everyone except Yuvika. But she's smart. I know that she doubts the story that the world knows but I also trust her to say nothing. The lesser she knows, the better.
But that wasn't the issue at hand. Just when one problem seemed to be solved, life threw another right at me.
You just cannot stay away from trouble can you
It just follows you everywhere
Those words. Those words have indeed proven to be true. And currently, my 'trouble' revolves around the woman who said those words.
I had woken up feeling restless due to what Mittal had said. To be honest I didn't even get much sleep. After getting ready when I came down I saw my sister smiling and that made me feel somewhat better. Unfortunately, whatever warmth I was feeling was doused with cold when my grandfather dropped the fucking bomb.
I had barely sat at the table and barely begun eating when Dadu said it. "We need to discuss something important Ayansh" he had said and that's when I knew something was fishy. That feeling of doubt had followed me all he way as I followed dadu to his room.
"Your father came to me last night" he had said just as we had taken seat. "I won't bore you with details and beat around the bush." This had surprised me but I was grateful nonetheless.
"Your father was offered a deal by Kailash Agnihotri. Trilok had invested in one of his projects 8 years ago which failed and this is the same project that is being restarted. Your father was vary about investing but Kailash Agnihotri was persistent" dadu sighed as if preparing himself to speak the next thing.
"Trilok is a little gullible as I am sure you know. He is an excellent businessman yes but he is too trusting" I nodded at the statement. Papa's actions were majorly driven by his heart which was his strength as well as weakness. "Kailash Agnihotri served him thorns wrapped in roses and your father took it" my eyebrows furrowed in confusion at this.
"But there is a chance to actually extract the rose" he said slowly. "Dadu please be clear. What is going on?" I said feeling utterly confused.
"Kailash Agnihotri wrapped your father's head with sweet words and has offered his daughter's hand in marriage" he said and my breath hitched. WHAT?? Dadu sighs heavily.
"Your father thinks that this happened out of conversation but I don't share his thoughts. Both of us met Kailash in my party. I did not find him amiable. Something about him seems, I don't know wrong" he said. I agreed with him. I might not have talked to him that day but something about him seemed weird. The way he spoke, the way he was with his family.
"I see that you agree with me" dadu said noticing my expression. "and since you do I think you understand just as well as I do that this proposal wasn't just a part of conversation-" dadu said looking at me pointedly.
Oh. Oh my god. That veil bastard. My eyes widened in horror "He is offering his daughter as bargaining chip?!" I said horrified. Dadu nodded. "He wants to marry his daughter to you." I looked up. "We have received a marriage proposal for you to wed Ishani Agnihotri".
Which brought me back to my present situation. This man is ready to offer his daughter in marriage like a fucking sacrifice. What the hell is wrong with him?!
