"I was thinking of inviting some friends over for games on Friday. Maybe you could invite a couple of friends from school-" Jessica started to say as she wiped the kitchen counter.

"Ew. I'm not inviting my friends here." Alex cut her off.

Jessica sighed. "Okay, well, some of my friend's kids are around your age, so maybe -"

"I'm not being nice to them." Alex sassed.

"You WILL be nice to them, Alex." She warned.

"Whatever. I'm not making friends with them, though." Alex stated.

"You don't have to be friends with them. Anyway, do you like Lindsey and her daughter?" Jessica asked.

Alex shrugged. "They're not the most despicable people I've met."

"Ok. Then I'll invite them. What about Brittany and Steven?"

Alex sighed. "They're boring married people."

"Do you like them?"

"I guess." She mumbled.

"Okay. I'll invite them too. And what about Sky?"

"Just him?" Alex asked.

Jessica nodded.

Alex rolled her eyes. "Mom, you can't just invite some single guy over. He'll think you're "available," you know?"

"Hey." Jessica said. "You know, I am technically "available." And I don't have to invite just him. I can tell him to bring someone else."

Alex rolled her eyes. "Fine."

"I thought you said he was funny and you liked him anyway." Jessica reminded.

"Yeah. He's alright." Alex admitted.

"So I mean, reeeaaally," Jessica started in a teasing voice. "He wouldn't be the worst option for me, would he?"

"Ew! Mom!"

Jessica laughed and pinched Alex's cheek. "What? Would you rather I end up with Chuck?"

Alex snorted. She let out a small laugh. "Chuck seems like the kind of person who'd steal your lunch at the office."

Jessica giggled. "That's not true. Who told you that?"
