~Two weeks later~

Poppy sat at the bus stop, looking down at her phone so she didn't make eye contact with anyone walking by. Her phone chimed. She looked down, smiling as the name popped up.

[Incoming call from Greaser]

It had been a few days since they talked last.

"Hello?" Poppy squeaked.

"Hey. What's goin on?" Jet said, his voice low and rushed.

She snorted. "I don't know. You called me."

"You finish school?" He asked.

"Yeah. I'm just at the bus stop. You?"

He hummed. "Yeah. Just walking home."

"Oh. Do you live close to your school?" She asked.

"Uhhhh. Yeah. Now." He said.

"Oh. Did you just move?"

"Something like that." He said.

"What does that mean?" She asked.

"It means I don't want to talk about it." He said.

She narrowed her eyes, feeling somewhat shamed for asking such a simple question. She almost shut her mouth and left it at that, but she couldn't help her own personality from coming through.

"What kind of rude jerk response is that? You called me. I assume you are capable of having a normal conversation, are you not?" She spat.

He gulped, his eyes darting around as if looking for something to say. "Uhh-"

"So answer the damn question like a normal person. Did your family move? Yes or no?! Answer before I hang up and block your number." She growled.

"I got kicked out." He blurted out.

"Your parents kicked you out?!" She gasped.

He stopped walking once he got to the back of the tattoo parlour. He took a moment to lightly smack his head on the brick wall. "Foster parents. But yeah." He sighed. Why did he answer the question?

"Oh." She said, overcome with a feeling of pity.

He could hear the sympathy in her voice. He sighed. "I don't want your pity. I just called to see if you had any more movie recommendations. I watched the last one."

She felt bad. Suddenly, the way she viewed him was shifting. Now, she was more curious. Who was he, exactly? What had happened to him?

"Well..." She whispered. "What did you think of The Blind Side?" She asked.

He rolled his eyes. "Depressing. But at least it had a happy ending." He grumbled. But in reality, the movie made him a little bit sad. At least in the movie, some lady felt for the kid enough to take him in and treat him like real family. Maybe it made him a bit jealous.

"So does that mean you liked it, then?" She asked.

"I suppose."

"Okay, well then... Maybe next time you should watch A Walk To Remember." She said.

"Sounds like a girly hallmark movie." He said.

She snorted. "It's not just like that. A little bit. But mostly, it's just touching and emotional."
