After Poppy and Teddie left for the movie, Hyunjin walked into the living room, hoping for a relaxing evening...
But it seemed JoJo had other plans.
She went and sat beside beside him on the couch, snuggling into his side.
He smiled peacefully.
She cleared her throat. "Jinnie..." She began quietly.
"Hmm?"
"I love how good of a protector you are for our family." She smiled.
He kissed her forehead.
"But-" she started.
He stiffened slightly.
"I think maybe in Poppy's case tonight, we could've been a bit more lenient." She said.
Hyunjin looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry, what?" He asked.
JoJo smiled again. "Well, because she's growing up. I don't want her to feel ashamed of having a womanly body."
Hyunjin bit his lip. He shook his head in disbelief.
She raised her brow, waiting for a response.
Hyunjin snorted a laugh. "Are you joking?" He asked.
She furrowed her brows, sitting up and pulling away from him. "No. And I don't appreciate the sarcastic tone." She said plainly.
He sighed. "Jo, she's not going out like that."
"I go out like that sometimes, and you don't mind." JoJo said.
"Well, yeah. Because I'm there." He said defensively.
She gave him a pointed look.
"And you're an adult." He added.
She shook her head. "It's not just about that. I know you're worried about her, our daughter, and I want her to value modesty, too. I want her to be careful of her environment. I do. But I don't want you to scare her into thinking that bad things are going to happen to her solely because of what she wears. What if one day she does end up in a bad situation? What if she does get followed home by a creepy guy someday? And then what if she's too afraid to tell you because she happened to be wearing a shirt that showed a tiny bit of cleavage, and she thinks you'll lecture her and make her feel like it's her fault??" JoJo said.
Hyunjin stood up angrily. He turned to face JoJo. He waved his hands in front of himself. "No way. She's not going to start being allowed to show cleavage just because of that."
JoJo shrugged. "Baby, I think that you're actually sad that she's growing up. I am, too. She's our baby. But truthfully, I think that she's not the one sexualizing her body. She just wants to look cute. You're planting the other idea in her head. And YES, I understand your fears. I want more than anything for our daughter to be safe. But I also know that when that creepy guy harassed me outside our school, I was fully, completely covered. Some men are just creeps."
Hyunjin started pacing. "That's exactly the point. Some men are creeps. It doesn't help if she looks too appealing to them!" He spat.
JoJo tilted her head and gave him a pleading look.
"Naw. Naw." He shook his head. "Don't give me that look."
She sighed. "Jin, it's your decision, but I really think you should ease up a bit. Breasts aren't supposed to be sexual, and I don't want her to feel bad for having them." She said.
Hyunjin snorted. "Oh, please. It's hardly "my decision" when you'll be mad unless I do what you want."
JoJo's expression dropped. She stood up suddenly and went to the bedroom.
