Juno went through the school week not paying much attention to anyone.

He kept his determination to be focused on his own life and not those around him.

It seemed to be working for him. He felt less anxious not having to care about other's problems.

That Sunday morning, their family went to church as usual. Except their dad was sick, so he stayed home.

At least here, Juno could be friendly and not guarded.

But as they got out of the vehicle, his heart stopped.

"Sh*t..." He whispered audibly.

JoJo immediately turned to scold him. "Juno!"

Juno watched in horror as the new girl from school got out of a car with a woman who was most likely her mom.

He looked back down at JoJo.

"How dare you say that! Especially in front of your little brother and sister, and MOST especially when we're going to church!" JoJo scolded in a whisper.

Juno felt so embarrassed as the new girl walked by just a few feet away, obviously looking back to take a second glance as he got lectured by his mom in the middle of the parking lot.

"Watch your mouth!" JoJo said, pointing her finger in his face.

"I just... I realized I forgot my notebook. I wanted to take notes." Juno lied awkwardly.

"That's no excuse to talk like that. You can take some pages from your brother's notebook." JoJo said sternly.

"Okay. Sorry." Juno whispered.

"Let's go." JoJo said.

She grabbed Teddie's hand, and Juno held Poppy's, and they made their way inside.

He groaned internally as his mom chose to sit 3 rows in front of the new girl.

Now she would for sure be watching him.

"It looks like there's a new family here. We'll have to go say hi after." JoJo said happily.

Teddie nodded eagerly.

Juno put on a fake smile and nodded, too.

Ugh. Why did this have to happen? Why did his two separate worlds have to collide like this?
