Chapter seventy five

"You call her your queen."

The next morning, just like they thought, killing one more had brought things up to the surface seeing as a group of them had gone out in search of Justin, and all they found was blood and some burnt grass, as people stood on opposing sides "guess they're gonna execute and burn every last one of us! Just like Justin!" Jed voiced "not if we have guns, too." Regina shared, as a man came forward, Gabriel shoved him back, and as a woman came over, Rosita wrapped her arm around her neck and threw her back, as a man came over, Carl shoved him back, they all then mingled with one another.

And as they did, Katniss and Alden stood above them all while the rest of her people stood around her, watching it all go down, Carol had put her hand on Jed's chest and the other on her gun "I thought you were supposed to be our leader." Jed shared "enough." Carol told them, taking her hand off him "turn around, all of you." she told them "no can do, Cee. Why don't you go ahead and yank that roscoe, pop me right here? It's better then worrying about getting it in the back." Judd shared, and when he did, Carol pulled out her gun, where Carl and everyone else did the same.

Daryl had then climbed up and stood next to Katniss and Alden "we don't want this. Hey, we just need to protect ourselves." Laura shared "that's not gonna happen!" Katniss voiced, as everyone looked to her "that cause you're the one who took out Justin?" DJ asked "nah. My money's on garbage lady." the man who had rushed Gabriel shared "revenge for Simon's play, sure." Regina shared "no. It's the antler queen. Finishing what she started." DJ shared, turning and walking off to get an axe, the one who suggested it was Jadas followed him, as the two grabbed axe's, Arat ran up to them "hey, stop. It's gonna go too far." she told them.

"Nah. It won't." Daryl shared, holding his crossbow up "maybe he's working with her. She is his daughter." DJ shared, and as he walked forward "come on." he told the other saviors, as they moved toward's them, Katniss and her people reached for their swords, as a horse could be heard, Rick came riding in "everyone back off! Right now!" he voiced, aiming his gun at the saviors, Arat ran up and grabbed the axe from DJ, Laura then stepped up, grabbing the other one "all right, we are not doing this. Let it go." she told the saviors, as Rick paced back and forth between them, Jed stared at Katniss, as he turned walking off the saviors went to follow.

"Start the redirect. Pair off to work the grid." Rick told them all, as everyone began walking off, Rick stared at Katniss, Katniss lifted her hood up and turned walking off, and as she did, Alden along with the rest of her people followed her, where Daryl noticed they weren't heading the same way as the others, as he followed them, but when he was, he heard footsteps behind him, as he turned around seeing Rick standing there "whoever killed Justin. Lied his head on a tree stump, cut it off and then burned him to make sure nobody ever found out." Rick shared "is this the kind of shit you used to do?" Daryl asked.

"When I had to." Rick told him "and if she did it? If that's what she's been doing out here this whole time. I know why, and so do you. Bringing all these people together, it was always gonna happen." Daryl shared "no. It's the right thing to do. The future belongs to all of us now." Rick shared "why do they get this future? And Glenn don't? Or Abraham? Or Sasha? All the people the kingdom lost..hilltop..oceanside? You ever think about what they want? What they'd do, if they could?" Daryl asked "yeah, I do. I have. For a long time I wanted it to, maybe more than anyone." Rick told him "no, she wanted it more. You took that away." Daryl told him, turning to walk off.

"Daryl, I know you don't agree with everything we're doing here." Rick told him, as Daryl turned to him "all I ask is that you try. Do it. Let people see it. Let her see it. And maybe everyone moves past what's happened to what could happen and maybe, just maybe, it'd be one of the best decisions you ever made. Like not killing a guy who left your brother on a rooftop to die." Rick shared, as he turned walking off.
