“I'm leaving tomorrow.”
“Oh.” Audrey blinked, wide-eyed. Another Saturday came, which meant another afternoon Parker spent at Charlotte’s house with her sister. The two had a bowl of soup in front of them. As of recently, their meetings focused less on cleaning, and more just hanging out and chatting. All of the cleaning had been done previously, the only thing left to clean up being cumulative dust; which, even that wasn't mandatory.
“Yeah.” He leaned forwards slightly. “Sorry for telling you last second.”
“It's okay.” She modestly said. “You'll miss church tomorrow, I assume?”
As she took a spoonful of soup to her lips, Parker nodded. “Yeah. Once she gets to my house later today, we'll make sure we have everything ready, and then we're gonna leave pretty early in the morning.”
“Mm.” She nodded, swallowing what she had consumed. “Sounds like fun, though.”
“I'm looking forward to it. I don't really know what to expect.” He smiled awkwardly, chuckling equally so. “My sister did all the planning.”
“Oh?”
“I know that sounds lazy of me, but she volunteered to. She said she didn't want to stress me out.”
“Do you mean Charlotte?”
Parker didn't entirely understand what that question meant. “What?”
“She doesn't want to stress you out because you're stressed about Charlotte?” She elaborated.
“Oh.” He looked down at his soup, pausing their conversation to consume a bit of it. “She- never said explicitly, but.. that sounds right.”
“Mm. She seems like a kind-hearted person.”
“She is. Having a sibling is.. great.”
They both ceased talking for a bit, drinking the soup in front of them. Charlotte's TV was on—it was silently playing a college football game, per Parker’s request. He got distracted watching the game happen.
“Hey, Parker,” Audrey finally grabbed his attention.
“Hm?” He looked at her, spoon in hand, dipped into the soup.
“I'll be praying for your safe journey. And that you both have fun.” She smiled lightly.
“Heh.” He smirked genuinely at her. “I'm gonna miss hanging with you. Tell Austin I wish him well.”
She grinned. “I will, thank you.”
“Tell him that he's an amazing athlete. I believe his team will win the championship.” He chuckled.
“He’ll be stoked to hear that from you.” They both shared a chuckle. “I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.
He beamed. “I'll be back before you know it.”
