One More Person

Two days passed.

Charlotte was with Aaron and Rebecca, at Aaron’s art bridge. It'd been so long since she was last here, she almost cried at the nostalgia. She and Rebecca sat and watched Aaron spray Christmas related graffiti art. As they conversed, a curious thought came to Charlotte’s mind. She leaned forward to look at Aaron. “Hey, Aaron, what's Carlos been up to? I haven't really caught up with him since I came back.”

He glanced at her. “Oh, he's chill. Like..” He turned back to the wall and continued spraying paint. “Same old stuff. He became friends with your sister for a bit.”

“Oh?”

“But he's been, like, talking to her less often since you came back.”

“Eh?” Her face scrunched. “I wonder why.”

She was gonna leave it at that, but Rebecca pitched in, “Don't you know, Char-Char?” She looked at her friend. “Carlos doesn't like you.”

That wasn't something she was expecting to hear. “Wh-..Huh..? Why?”

“I know!” She threw her hands in the air. “I can't believe he could dislike such a sweet cutie like you!”

Rebecca’s energy made Charlotte chuckle, but her lip fell soon after. She crossed her legs and grabbed both of her ankles. Her brows furrowed. She shouldn't be shocked that Carlos viewed her negatively. Not everyone was going to forgive her so easily. But.. she couldn't remember a time she had directly wronged him. Other than.. the money thing. “Do you know why, Aaron?” She finally asked, turning slightly to him.

“Uhhh,” He stopped spraying paint momentarily. “I dunno. He just thinks you're a bad person for some reason.”

“Oh.”

“It doesn't make any sense.” Rebecca pouted, leaning against Charlotte. “Char-Char has never done a single thing wrong.”

Aaron snickered lightheartedly, but didn't say anything.

Charlotte closed her eyes. “..Hmm..”
