Apparently Stone got eliminated. Charlotte didn't see it happen—her teammates had to inform her when she asked. Airy had called everyone over for the next challenge.
Even with how utterly awful Airy was at hosting, she at least appreciated the fact he didn't waste much time in progressing. “Okay, your next challenge is to do a hundred push-ups. The last team to do a hundred push-ups will be up for elimination. Three, two, one, go.”
“Alright, I've got this.” Charlotte affirmed, getting down on the ground. She began doing quick, evenly paced push-ups, counting quietly aloud.
“You do you, man.” Whippy Creamy confidently smiled at her.
“Doing push-ups is really impressive. I can't do any.” Subway Seat commented.
“You gotta strengthen up, then, Subway.” Whippy Creamy teased, elbowing him lightly.
“Huh? Oh. I guess Airline Food’s team finished, so they're all safe.” Airy announced.
“Wow, that was fast.” Subway Seat said, surprised.
Charlotte was up to thirty push-ups. There was a silent pause as she continued to count under her breath.
“What are you at now?” Circle asked.
“Thirty eight.. thirty nine..” She pushed herself to do one more, to even out the count. “Fourty. Phew! I’m taking a break.” She sat up.
“How is- How the heck did you get so strong?” Subway Seat asked, brows raised.
“Spelunking.” And her job, but that was less interesting.
“Sple-what now?” Whippy Creamy asked.
“Spelunking.” She looked away. “Caving, cave exploring,” She looked back at them. “They all mean the same thing.” She smiled. “I like exploring caves in my free time.”
“How would exploring caves make you stronger?” Circle wondered.
“Well, it's good exercise, that's for sure. I used to go a lot with friends.”
“Used to?”
“Well, I’m..” Here. Stuck on The Plane. Charlotte pointed at the ground with both her hands, then shrugged.
He shrugged as well. “Well, yeah, but, you'll do it again once this is over, right?”
It wasn't that simple. Parker, Kylee, and Leon would probably keep her out until she got her mold treated. That's assuming Parker didn't snitch on her about the money spending. He better not have. “I guess so. Probably wouldn't be a very good idea right now.” As much as she liked spelunking, she had to recognize the danger of having this mold infection.
“Why not?”
She was beginning to get a little annoyed. He was asking too many questions. She didn't feel like explaining her life situation right now. “Nevermind.” She said, trying to dismiss the topic.
“What? What's the problem?” Whippy Creamy asked lightheartedly, teasing her.
“I shouldn't have said that.” Charlotte muttered to herself.
“Come onnnnn, what's going on in the life of Moldy?” He pushed further, curiously.
Jesus, they were a bunch of nosy boys. Just like her friends. “It's where I got the mold.” She admitted, so that he'd stop. “A month ago, I went to this cave called the “Silo Cavern” or something.” She didn't want to make herself look stupid by telling them she ignored the warning sign. So, she quickly made up a lie; something innocuous to her. “And the idiots working the place didn't tell me there were patches of fungus inside.” She pointed at the right side of her head, where the mold originated from. “Ended up nicking me in the head, and it's been growing there ever since.”
