“So, did it work?” Peni asked, leaning back in her chair.

Parker, glass of juice in hand, raised a brow. “Hm? Did what work?” He chuckled, side eyeing her. The two were on the balcony together, gazing out at the sunset of their final day on this boat together.

Peni finished slurping down the liquid in her own glass. A relaxed sigh escaped her. “You know.” She set her glass down. “Getting that friend of yours off your mind.”

Parker stared out at the beautiful orange sky. Birds flashed in and out of the frame. He hummed. “I still miss her, of course.” He started, though his expression remained neutral. He turned to look at her. “But, I can't lie, I do feel a lot better. I’ll- move on.” He smiled. “Thank you.”

She beamed. “I'm glad. I hope you're not telling that to me just to say it.”

He laughed softly, shaking his head. He stared at the setting sun. It was understandable she would say that. “I’m not—honest.”

She giggled, stirring the ice in her glass with the straw. “I'm kidding; I trust you.”

There was a pause as they soaked in the moment. “Peni,” He finally broke the silence. “You didn't have to do all of this for me.”

“You're my brother. I had to do something.”

He snickered. “I'll do the same for you if you ever need it.”

She chuckled. “I expect you to.”
