We're Celebrating You

The two drove back to Audrey’s house. It was dark out now. As they headed down the street, Charlotte noticed a lot of cars parked at one of the neighboring houses. “Wow. That's a lot of cars.” She commented absentmindedly, not thinking much of it.

“Yeah. Must be having a party.” Parker agreed.

They pulled into Audrey’s driveway, got out, then walked up the path to the front door.

“We really spent the entire day together.” She commented, smiling.

“And had fun, right?”

She chuckled lightly. “Yeah. Lots.”

They stopped at the front door and looked at each other.

“Thanks, Parker. I didn't know how much I needed today.”

He was a bit surprised to hear that from her. “It was my pleasure, Charlotte.” He spread his arms out for a hug. He smirked. “I'm glad that I finally proved to you I'd be a good boyfriend.”

She laughed. “We'll see.” She returned his hug. “Bye, Parker.”

His grin widened. “Not yet. I need to talk to Audrey about something before I go.”

“Oh. Okay.” She unlocked the door and opened it. They stepped inside.

There were a ton of people inside the house, which was shocking to Charlotte.

It was all of her friends!

“What?!” She exclaimed, everybody looking at her with a smile. Carlos and Audrey sat on the couch next to each other, Carlos’ arm splayed across the back of the couch. Kylee and Leon sat in chairs next to each other, Suzuki standing next to them with a drink in hand. Rebecca was sitting on a chair as well, drawing something. Aaron hovered over her shoulder.

“Hey, she's finally back!” Suzuki beamed.

Aaron practically bull rushed towards her. “Charlo!” He squeezed her in a hug.

“Char-Char!” Rebecca followed, throwing herself into the hug as well. She squealed in excitement.

Their elation made her laugh, and she returned their hug. “But- there weren't any cars in the driveway! How did you all get here?”

As the rowdy duo released her, Audrey stepped towards her. “Kevin,” That was one of her neighbors. “Was kind enough to let everyone park in his driveway so that we could surprise you.”

“It's really nice to see you again, Charlotte.” Suzuki nodded at her.

“Hell yeah it is.” Leon agreed. “What happened to you; where have you been?” He raised a brow.

“It's a confusing story. I don't really feel like explaining it all right now.” She chuckled. “I'll explain it to all of you separately eventually, but I'm just so excited right now!” She looked at everyone. “This is just-” She shook her head, laughing. “So awesome.”

“Wanna play a game with us?” Aaron asked. “I've been dying to play with you when I heard you were back.”

“Yeah!” Rebecca chimed in. “Aaron’s gotten really good at it.”

Charlotte wasn't sure what game they were exactly referring to, but she was more than down to play. “I'll kick your ass.” She pointed at him confidently.

He smirked. “Bet.”

He and Rebecca scampered towards the couch. Suzuki put a hand on Charlotte's shoulder. “Everyone is here to celebrate your return. Enjoy it.”
