Day two. Now that Parker and Peni had a better idea of what they wanted to do, they had a loose outline of how the day would go, but they agreed to go to some other activities impromptu to keep things interesting.
Parker was waiting for Peni to ready herself before going for some breakfast. He stood outside in the hallway, leaning against the wall just next to the door, arms crossed. He tapped his foot, patiently waiting for her, letting his mind wander.
The door clicked open, and he looked to his left. But to his surprise, it wasn't their cabin’s door that opened, but the neighbor’s.
The person that stepped out of the door, though, made him freeze.
A slice of bread stepped out. It made his heart stop for a split second. But once he digested the person’s frame, it was clear it wasn't her. Their neighbor’s crust was darker than Charlotte’s color, and their crumb was more golden yellow. They were also slightly shorter and wider than Charlotte was.
They turned suddenly while he was wide-eyed staring. He darted his eyes away, then back at them awkwardly. After a brief moment, they spoke. “Good morning.” Their voice was that of a woman’s. Her voice sounded like a model’s.
God, he was such a mess. This woman probably thought he was such a weirdo. Rightfully so. “Morning.” He nodded, trying to be polite to mask his awkward staring from earlier.
Their exchange ended with nothing more, the woman walking away to go do.. whatever it was she was going to do. Parker sighed to himself, feeling embarrassed. No matter where he went, Charlotte would haunt his mind. To be fair, that girl looked similar enough to Charlotte to compare.
He shook his head. “Whatever.” He muttered to himself. He needed to clear his mind. A new day was brewing.
