My breath caught in my throat as I watched my father crawl toward his wand as Harry did the same.
"I brought about the Death of Albus Dumbledore!" my father shouted, obviously continuing an argument we hadn't heard.
"You thought you did," said Harry, "but you were wrong."
"Dumbledore is dead!" my father shouted. "His body decays in the marble tomb in the grounds of this castle! I have seen it, Potter, and he will not return!"
"Yes, Dumbledore's dead," Harry replied, "but you didn't have him killed. He chose his own manner of dying, chose it months before he died, arranged the whole thing with the man you thought was your servant."
"What childish dream is this?" my father hissed, watching Harry carefully.
"Severus Snape wasn't yours. Snape was Dumbledore's. Dumbledore's from the moment you started hunting me and my family down. And you never realized it because of the thing you can't understand. You never saw Snape cast a Patronus, did you, Riddle?"
Tom said nothing and Harry continued.
"Snape's Patronus was a (your Patronus). The same as Y/n's, because he loved her from the time they were children and he saved her from the life you were supposed to protect her from!"
"Shut your mouth!"
"He asked you to spare us, did he not?"
"He thought it might turn Y/n against us. That's all. He knew I wanted her to join us."
Harry scoffed. "She was never yours, either."
"She was always mine!" There was a loud crack across the sky as he shouted. "She is my daughter!"
"They were never working for you! She hated you from the moment she learned the truth! You think Snape would truly betray her? He was Dumbledore's spy from the moment you threatened to kill her friends and he's been working against you ever since! Dumbledore was already dying when Snape finished him!"
"It matters not!" Voldemort yelled. By now a crowd had gathered, carefully watching the scene unfold.
"It matters not whether Snape was mine or Dumbledore's, or what petty obstacles they tried to put in my path! I crushed them as I crushed your mother! Oh, but it all makes sense, Potter, and in ways that you do not understand! Dumbledore was trying to keep the Elder Wand from me! He intended that Snape should be the true master of the wand! But I got there ahead of you, little boy! I reached the wand before you could get your hands on it! I understood the truth before you caught up. I killed Severus Snape three hours ago and the Elder Wand, the Deathstick, the Wand of Destiny is truly mine! Dumbledore's last plan went wrong, Harry Potter!"
I turned to Severus as Harry and my father continued arguing. "You've got to get out of here."
"Darling, what are you talking about?"
"If he sees you he'll believe the wand isn't working because you're alive. He'll come after you, Sev. Just go back into the castle and wait for me."
He shook his head. "I'm not leaving you here."
"Sev, go!" I hissed. "Please! I need you back in the castle. If this goes wrong I don't want you in the crossfire."
"Darling-."
"Baby, please. Just go make sure Minerva and the others are okay."
"Darling, I guarantee they don't want to see me."
"I think you might be wrong," Minerva said as she approached. We turned to face her and there was a brief moment of silence where none of us quite knew what to say before she pulled him into a hug. "I heard everything, Severus. I- I'm so sorry," she said as she pulled away. There was a loud yell and I turned to the argument once again.
