I returned to the tower, assuring Remus and Sirius everything was fine, though that was far from the truth as my father's face flashed in my mind.
"Bring me my daughter," he hissed to Lucius and Narcissa. "They have her... bring her to me and all will be forgiven."
Lucius swallowed thickly but nodded nonetheless as the vision faded.
"They're coming for me, Rem." I turned to him and he shook his head.
"They won't touch you," he hissed as another masked Death Eater entered the tower and was sent flying backward.
"Rem, it's inevitable."
There was a loud crashing sound and Lucius grabbed me around the waist as Narcissa held out her wand to the others. I screamed, struggling against his grip, but it was pointless.
"You have to help him!" I screamed, my eyes locking with Remus. "He won't know what to do!"
Lucius began dragging me away as several more Death Eaters attacked, stopping Remus and Sirius from getting to me.
"He has to kill me!" I screamed. "It's the only way he'll complete the mission! Harry has to kill me!"
Remus's eyes widened in horror.
"Quiet!" Lucius hissed, dragging me away as Dolohov sent Remus flying backward. I screamed, freeing one hand from Lucius's grip and softening Remus's landing before sending Dolohov flying out of the window. Lucius grabbed Narcissa's hand and lifted us off the ground, taking me back to my father.
***
We landed harshly on the ground and Lucius placed a hand behind my head, protecting me from the fall. I scrambled away from him, taking in my surroundings. "Where are we? What've you done?"
"We had no choice... I'm sorry, Y/n... Please forgive me," he begged.
"Where is he?" I hissed.
"He's a few kilometers that way. In the old boathouse." He pointed behind himself. "I thought you might want a moment to... collect yourself before seeing him."
"I didn't want to see him at all!" I hissed.
"I'm sorry," he muttered. "I'm so sorry." He reached out to touch my hand but I pulled away. "Please, Y/n... he's tasked us with bringing you to him. If we don't..."
I looked up, my eyes locking with his as Narcissa approached us, her hands shaking.
"Draco... he's still inside the school, is he not? We must get to him."
"Draco? I haven't seen him. I thought he was with you."
She shook her head fearfully.
Lucius winced, looking down at his left arm. "It's time, Y/n... it's now or never."
I pushed past him, ignoring him as I made my way to the boathouse. I pushed open the door and found my father standing there waiting for me. He nodded to Lucius.
"Shall I leave, My Lord?" Lucius asked but Tom simply shook his head.
"Did they hurt you?" he asked me.
"Why would you think-?" Oh. I stop myself. He thought I was being held against my will. "No, they didn't hurt me. I played my part quite well, if you remember."
"And the boy? Where has he gone?"
"I'm not sure. He said something about completing his mission and ran off before I could stop him."
He nodded before turning to Lucius.
"Send for Severus. Keep my daughter with you and the others at all times. I want her in sight of one of you at all times. Do not let her back into that castle alone."
"Tom-."
He held up his hand, cutting me off. "That's final! You will not be entering that castle alone again. They will use you to get to me!"
I rolled my eyes but said nothing more.
"My Lord... please... my son-," Lucius began.
"If your son is dead, Lucius, it is not my fault. He did not come and join me like the rest of the Slytherins. Perhaps he has decided to befriend Harry Potter?"
Lucius shook his head. "No! Never."
"You must hope not," Tom hissed.
"Aren't- aren't you afraid, my Lord, that Potter might die at another hand but yours? Wouldn't it be . . . forgive me . . . more prudent to call off this battle, enter the castle, and seek him y-yourself?"
"Do not pretend, Lucius. You wish the battle to cease so that you can discover what has happened to your son. And I do not need to seek Potter. Before the night is out, Potter will have come to find me."
A chill ran along my spine as he spoke.
"Go and fetch Snape."
"Snape, m–my Lord?"
"Snape. Now. I need him. There is a...service...I require from him. Go. And bring my daughter with you. Leave her with Narcissa and Bellatrix."
Lucius took my arm and left me with Narcissa as he went to look for Severus.
I wanted to scream but the moment I turned to face Narcissa I could see the tears in her eyes slowly slipping down her cheeks. It stopped any feelings I may have wanted to release.
"Cissy, what is it?"
"Draco is still in the castle... The Dark Lord won't let us go to him. This wasn't supposed to happen... I- I never wanted this. I just... I fell in love... with a Death Eater."
"I know." I pulled her into a hug. "This isn't your fault. We'll get Draco out. Everything will be fine," I promised her.
Just another promise I had no way of keeping, for I would soon be dead.
