The students and staff began running back into the castle as the Death Eaters approached. I disapparate from the crowd of Death Eaters after making sure the Malfoys had gotten away and I appear inside the castle beside Kingsley.

"Still with us, right?" he asked.

"Always," I replied, sending a Death Eater flying backwards.

Kingsely smiled and we began fighting the attacking Death Eaters, though I couldn't help but wonder... where the hell had Tom and Harry gone?

"Bella, no!" I screamed as she cast a spell at Ginny Weasley.

"Are you with us or them?" she hissed as Molly approached her.

"Not my daughter, you bitch!" Molly yelled, aiming her wand as Bella laughed.

They began exchanging spells as a Death Eater approached me from behind.

"Traitor!" she hissed, aiming her wand at me.

"Go to hell!" I shouted, sending her into a nearby wall with a flick of my wand.

I could hear Bella's laughter before it stopped altogether and I turned to see her frozen in place, Molly's wand aimed for the heart. Molly looked to me briefly, a flicker of an apology in her eyes before she sent the final blow and Bella burst into ash.

Everything seemed as if it was happening in slow motion. My knees hit the floor with a hard thump and several visions played in my mind. I could see Harry fighting Tom. I could see Hermione and Ron attacking Nagini... but none of it mattered.

My lips fell open and a pained scream left them. I suppose a part of me knew it would end this way but knowing it and seeing her ashes scatter on the floor are two very different things. I saw Molly shoot a spell at someone behind me and they fell to the ground with a loud thump.

Arthur cautiously moved toward me and lifted me off the ground. "We need to get her out of here. It's not safe for her here," he said to Molly.

"Where's Sirius?" she asked him but he shook his head. Neither of them knew. "Y/n, I'm so sorry," she said, pushing my hair out of my face. "I had no choice."

Another vision flashed in my mind before I could say anything to her.

"Severus, she's alive!" Narcissa exclaimed, her face filled with joy.

Severus shook his head. "Even if she's alive for now, Narcissa, we know how this ends. In order for the boy to defeat the Dark Lord she must die... I promised her I wouldn't interfere." He was fighting back tears as Narcissa shook her head.

"Severus, you're not listening to me! She already died! She came back just as the boy did."

"What do you mean she came back?"

He didn't want to believe it. He couldn't believe it. He'd promised Y/n he would respect her wishes and he'd slowly come to terms with it. He didn't want to hope that things could be okay. He didn't want hope. It only ends in suffering.

"Severus... I'm not entirely sure what happened but she and the boy were dead... at least that's what we thought... but the boy came back after the Dark Lord killed him in the woods."

"Severus, old friend... she needs you," Lucius added.

"I promised her I would get the three of you out of town. She can handle herself and she wouldn't want me interfering."

Narcissa groaned in frustration. "Damn it, Severus! She needs you!" She looked to her husband for help.

"Many of our old comrades stayed to fight... many of whom she knows and cares about... even if she won't admit it."
