Hi guys, so listen I added a few extra scenes to the end of this chapter that wasn't there before. (Valentino's POV) I was supposed to add it in when I published the chapter but I was unsure. Anyway I added it today so please re-read the chapter so it could make sense. I do apologize for the mix-up 😔😔😔

I finished mixing the batter for the double chocolate fudge brownies and began pouring it onto the pre lined baking tray, using a spatula to evenly spread the batter. When I finished with that task I slid the brownies into the oven to bake.

Next I began making the batter for the oatmeal raisin cookies. My wrist hurt from whisking so much but I brushed it off. I wasn't doing this for me, rather for Adella to get her through today. For most people the ninth of January may be a regular day but for Adella it was the day she lost her parents.

Six years ago today they got into a car accident, dying on impact while Adella was severely injured. So much so she needed a blood transfusion. As I was a viable donor I donated two bags of my blood so the doctors could save her. She stayed in intensive care for three days while being monitored by the doctors.

Twice her vitals became unstable and twice she almost died. And during that time I never left her side. No matter what Mom and Abuelo said I refused to leave until she opened her eyes. When she finally did we both cried until our eyes were puffy. It was that incident which sealed our sisterly bond forever.

Smiling fondly at the memories we shared over the years I continued making the cookies. Usually Marisa would help out but she was at school with Andrès. We all agreed that they'll stay in Scarsdale for at least a month so they could acclimate before coming home to visit.

And considering the history Richard shared with our family he said he'd personally look after the children's needs while they studied at the academy. I admit I'll miss the two of them but I'm glad they were getting this opportunity to study and pursue any hobbies or passions they may have.

Finished mixing the batter for the cookies I carefully spooned them onto a second baking tray and put them on the second shelf of the oven to bake with the brownies. Wiping my hands of the flour I piled the dirty dishes into the sink to wash them.

Ten minutes into the task I heard footsteps behind me and seconds later I felt a strong pair of arms around my waist. I smiled but didn't turn around. "Hi honey."

"Why are you doing the dishes love?" he asked as he buried his nose in the crock of my neck.
"I just finished baking. You know how I feel about leaving the place in a mess," I said as I put the whisk to drain.
"Cleaning up our messes is the maids' job. Why spend time doing the dishes when you can spend it with me?"

Rinsing a knife I set it on the rack and did the same with a bowl. I was just about to wash the spatulas when Valentino bent down and picked me up bridal style, making me yelp as I was abruptly lifted off my feet. "Valentino what are you-"

Ignoring me, he carried me off to the living room and deposited me on the couch. Sitting up I shot him a look of annoyance. "Is picking me up and forcefully carrying me about your new thing?"

"If it gets you to pay attention to me when I speak to you then yes," he said as he sat beside me and rested his hand on my knee. "You're not living in Colombia with your parents. You're here with me as my wife. The things you used to do out of obligation you don't have to anymore."
"I know," I sighed. "I guess old habits die hard."

He nodded and brushed my hair away from my face. "What say you and I go out for lunch? The suspension on your license will be lifted in a few days so you'll be back on the road in no time."
