"He looks hideous," I said as I picked up a blurry camera picture that had picked up my target.
"He has been killing people but I think he has a motive or a list and witness reports state that he has a hideout inside the abandoned train station," Matt added as he read through his braille reports.
"I will go out tonight then. Put an end to this," I started gathering my notes.
"Sure don't want me to come along? I can suit up. I don't mind," Matt said again.
"You left that life behind for a reason. I don't want you breaking that promise to yourself. I can handle it , don't worry."
"I can break anything for you, love."
"I know."
A few minutes later I put on my coat, checked on a sleeping Natalie, kissed Matt and then ran through rooftops till I reached the abandoned station line. I walked inside the tunnel with my flashlight.
It was creepy, dirty, but still has drawings on the walls. I was in the right place.
My phone suddenly rang loudly. I flinched before taking it out.
"What's wrong Matt?"
"Natalie is gone. She went after the Graffiti killer. Left a voicemail. She must have snuck out after you left!"
I cursed under my breath. This was not responsible behaviour. I allowed her to research for me, handle part of the mafia to train her and this is what she does?! After being responsible and thoughtful throughout her whole life?!
"I am suiting up. I will be there in a few," Matt ended the call.
I continued walking deeper into the tunnel, muffled screams getting louder. Natalie had been captured by the killer . She acted as bait.
I ran towards the sound, spotting the killer before me, black ink dripping from his eyes of an illusion of it atleast, a face full of white paint like makeup.
"Hey!" I yelled , grabbing his attention.
The graffiti killer looked at me, pure hatred in his eyes. Natalie was still safe, tied down and blindfolded on the platform but not hurt or atleast that's what I could deduce.
"Pick someone your own size," I charged at him, knocking him over.
But he was surprisingly strong, his hands gripping metal rods trying to break my bones. I kept on dodging him, stepping back, trying to hit him but it was like a mad man swinging blindly in rage. Deep pent up rage and I was unfortunately on the receiving end of it.
"Do. You. Ever. Just. Stop.!" I yelled frustrated as I spun on my knees and shot at his back.
He staggered forwards but it wasn't enough. I got distracted for just a second by Natalie who was sobbing and the killer knocked the gun out of my hand, slamming me against the wall and grabbing my throat.
All I could think was I had fucked up.
I struggled in his grip, I could been my neck bones because of how hard he was squeezing my throat and then suddenly he got violently thrown off of me.
I looked up a bit dazed expecting it to be Natalie even though that would have been irrational. But it was Matter. My sweet husband who had left behind this life was back in his Daredevil suit, breathing heavily, hands balled up in fists. The barrier broke in him.
He hauled the graffiti killer by his neck and tied a cable around it, handing him from the pipes above us.
Matt had never killed before. That was a line he wouldn't cross but today it seems that he did. And in that moment it wasn't just about the rage of his daughter almost killed along with his wife but the pent up anger from Foggy's death.
Matt helped me up before we both freed Natalie from her restraints. Her immediately hugging her dad and crying into him.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow quickly walking away. Not evil but watching every move. I let it slide. For now.
A/N : I am so incredibly sorry for vanishing for half a year. College has been crazy. Professor's are crazy, the syllabus is crazy and whatever little time I could find for myself went to taking naps.
This year though I will try to update more and with a new season coming, let's buckle up for the ride. Thank you for sticking around and reading this story. Forever grateful.
