"Two tiny hearts, one unbreakable bond—and a family who heard them both."

"Are we ready for this?" Chan asked, tugging slightly at the cuffs of his dark blazer as the automatic doors to the adoption agency slid open.

"We've been talking about it for months," Minho said, brushing imaginary lint off Hyunjin's oversized sweater. "We're ready."

Changbin stepped forward, his voice light. "If we're not, we're about to find out."

Hyunjin giggled beside him, taking Jisung's hand. "What if they hate us?"

"Then we bribe them with snacks," Jisung mumbled. "That works on me."

Seungmin rolled his eyes but smiled fondly. "Let's just see who's available first before we start panicking."

The social worker, Ms. Park, greeted them warmly. "It's rare to have such a big family interested in adopting together. Come this way, we've got several children we'd love for you to meet."

They were guided into a cozy playroom filled with building blocks, plush animals, and quiet lullaby music playing overhead. A few toddlers were scattered around the room—some playing, some napping, one throwing legos with surprising accuracy.

"Cute," Changbin whispered as he crouched to wave at a chubby toddler with pigtails.

"She's adorable," Minho agreed.

But as each member of the group walked through the room, tried to interact, offered toys or silly voices or pats on the head, nothing really clicked. The children smiled or waved, but there was no spark—nothing that made their hearts jump.

Until they saw them.

Two tiny boys sat off to the side of the room, curled up together under a blanket. One had chestnut brown curls that flopped over his forehead and chubby cheeks stained with a smudge of crayon. The other, slightly smaller, had lighter hair—a soft golden-blonde—and was quietly clapping his hands together in a rhythmic motion.

"Twins?" Jisung asked in a hushed voice.

Ms. Park nodded. "That's Jeongin and Felix. Two years old. They're very close—never apart."

As if hearing his name, Jeongin turned around and looked up with big round eyes. He blinked at all of them, then stood up slowly and toddled forward. "Hewwo," he said, voice bright but toddler-slurred. "We's busy."

"Oh my god," Hyunjin whispered, clutching Jisung's sleeve.

Chan knelt down to the boy's level. "Hi there. You're Jeongin?"

Jeongin nodded, pointing over his shoulder. "Dat's Fee-wix. Him don' talk wif words. Him talk wike dis—" and he flailed his little arms in some wild attempt at demonstrating sign language.

Felix had peeked out from under the blanket. His big brown eyes were quiet and calm as he looked them over. He didn't get up, but he waved—two hands moving in a small, precise motion that Seungmin instantly recognized.

"He said 'hi,'" Seungmin murmured, already signing it back without thinking.

Felix lit up. He scrambled up to his feet and waddled over, grabbing Jeongin's hand and tugging it like a lifeline. Then he signed again, his little fingers moving quickly.

Jeongin looked up at them. "Fee-wix say, 'who awe day?'"

Chan blinked. "He can... read lips?"

"Uh-huh," Jeongin nodded hard. "He weally smart. He see yo' mouth move', he know what you say!"

Minho chuckled. "That's impressive."

Seungmin crouched down beside Felix. "Hi Felix. I'm Seungmin." He signed his name slowly and clearly.
