"He was their light, but they forgot to cherish his glow—now, they'll do whatever it takes to make sure their sunshine never fades again."
"Hyunjin, can you help me with this footwork?" Jeongin called out, panting slightly as he went over a particularly tricky move.
Hyunjin, who was tying his hair back in a loose ponytail, immediately perked up. "Of course! Here, let me show you." He moved beside Jeongin, mirroring his steps and guiding him through the sequence.
Felix stood nearby, shifting his weight from foot to foot. "I can help too, if—"
"Hyunjin, can you check my arm placement while you're at it?" Changbin interrupted, waving his hand in the air.
Felix let his words die in his throat as Hyunjin turned his attention to Changbin instead.
Across the room, Chan and Minho were deep in discussion over the new choreography, their voices overlapping in a rapid exchange.
"This transition is too sharp," Minho muttered, arms crossed. "We need to smooth it out."
"Agreed. Maybe we can—"
"Do you guys need water?" Felix asked, already holding out a couple of bottles.
Chan barely glanced up. "Ah, thanks, Lixie." But he didn't take it, focused on replaying a segment of the dance on his phone with Minho.
Felix hesitated, fingers tightening around the bottles. His heart squeezed a little. It wasn't that they were ignoring him on purpose... right? Maybe they were just busy.
Taking a deep breath, he turned to Jisung and Seungmin, who were sprawled on the floor catching their breath.
"Jisung, you left your hoodie in the other room. I can grab it for you if—"
"Oh, Seungmin, did you see that meme I sent you earlier?" Jisung suddenly blurted, sitting up with a grin.
Seungmin snorted. "Yeah, it was so dumb. How do you find these things?"
Felix's mouth opened and closed.
"...Never mind," he murmured, barely loud enough to hear himself.
No one noticed.
Even Felix's usually bright energy couldn't break through the chaos of practice. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he took a step back, his presence fading into the background.
It had been like this for weeks. Every time he tried to talk, someone spoke over him. Every time he reached out, someone was already wrapped up in something—or someone—else.
And every time, Felix told himself it didn't matter.
But it did.
Later that night Felix shut the bathroom door softly, careful not to make any noise. The last thing he wanted was for someone to wake up and ask him what was wrong. Not that they would.
He slid down onto the cool tile floor, hugging his knees to his chest. His breath hitched as he bit his lip, trying to keep the sobs quiet.
Why didn't they notice?
Why didn't they care?
Tears slipped down his cheeks, and he let them. It wasn't like anyone would see them anyway.
After a while, his body felt too heavy to keep crying. His chest ached, his throat burned, and exhaustion pressed down on him. Wiping his face with the sleeve of his hoodie, he slowly pulled himself up and splashed cold water on his face.
He stared at his reflection in the mirror—eyes red, lips trembling, smile completely gone.
When was the last time they even looked at him properly?
