"He wasn't born to them, but he was always theirs."
The air was thick with pine and mist as Minho's paws thudded against the damp forest floor. Beside him, Jisung trotted lightly, nose twitching.
"Smell that?" Jisung asked, ears flicking forward.
Minho paused, nostrils flaring. "Yeah. Omega. But it's... faint. Old."
"Still shouldn't be out here alone." Jisung shifted, sniffing the wind again. "That scent's barely holding on. It's weak."
They moved quickly, silent but alert, weaving through the trees until Minho stopped abruptly, eyes narrowing. "There."
Nestled between two mossy rocks, under a blanket of leaves and dirt, was a small lump. As they stepped closer, it moved. A whimper. Then two wide, golden-brown eyes peeked up at them from a grimy face.
"Shit," Minho breathed, shifting back into his human form and crouching low. "Hey, hey—it's okay. We're not gonna hurt you."
The toddler flinched, clutching a piece of tattered fabric to his chest.
Jisung followed Minho's lead, kneeling beside him. "Hi there, little guy. What's your name?"
The child stared at them for a long moment. "Fee...wix."
"Felix?" Jisung echoed softly.
Felix nodded. "Me Feewix."
Minho looked him over—skinny, filthy, barefoot. A faint omega scent clung to him like smoke. "We need to get him back to the den. Now."
Felix didn't fight as Minho scooped him up, though his little hands clutched Minho's shirt tightly.
Back at the den, Seungmin was already waiting, hands trembling as he saw what Minho carried.
"Minho—who is—?" His breath caught when he saw the small face peeking over Minho's shoulder. "Oh. Oh, no."
"He's an omega pup," Jisung said. "Looks about two. We found him alone. He said his name is Felix."
Seungmin's instincts surged forward. "Give him to me."
Minho passed the child gently into Seungmin's arms. Felix didn't resist—he melted into Seungmin's hold like he belonged there.
"Hi, sweetheart," Seungmin cooed, brushing a hand through Felix's matted blond hair. "You're safe now. We've got you."
Felix blinked slowly. "Mama?"
The others froze. Seungmin's eyes softened. "If you want me to be, baby. I'll be your mama."
Felix nodded, burying his face in Seungmin's neck. "Mama."
Seungmin clutched him tighter. "Let's get you cleaned up, okay? You're safe now."
While Seungmin bathed the toddler carefully, the rest of the pack gathered nearby. Chan stepped forward, his alpha presence calm but commanding.
"What happened to him?" he asked softly.
Seungmin looked up from where Felix was sitting in the warm water, little fingers splashing weakly. "I haven't asked yet. I wanted him to feel safe first."
Once Felix was clean and wrapped in a soft blanket, they sat him in Seungmin's lap by the hearth. The boy looked around, eyes flickering from face to face until he landed back on Seungmin.
"Felix, sweetie," Seungmin said gently, "can you tell Mama what happened?"
Felix's lip wobbled. "Bad boom."
"A boom?" Jisung echoed.
"Mass...massacuh." Felix struggled with the word. "Da' big loud. Pack run. Me run with Mommy. Mommy say hide. No move. She come back."
