"He was just a scared little boy with magic in his heart—until seven brothers made him theirs."
"Did anyone invite Uncle Daeho?" Jisung asked, peeking through the living room blinds as a familiar car pulled up their long gravel driveway. "Because he's here. And he's got a kid with him."
Chan looked up from the old grimoire spread across the coffee table, brow furrowing. "A kid?"
"No one told me we were expecting company," Seungmin muttered from the couch, where he was half-buried under a pile of spell ingredient catalogues.
Minho crossed the room, joining Jisung at the window. "Maybe he finally decided to give us that cursed mirror he's been hoarding."
"Yeah, or maybe it's another one of his 'I need your help with a magical emergency but also I won't explain anything until you're already dying' situations," Changbin added from the kitchen, where he was stirring something suspiciously bubbling in a cauldron. "What's the kid look like?"
"Tiny. Blonde. Kinda scared," Jisung said, voice softening slightly. "He's holding his hand like... like it hurts."
Hyunjin stood, brushing invisible lint from his robe. "I'll make tea. Uncle only shows up when something's gone very wrong."
The front door opened before anyone could say more. Their uncle stepped in, holding the hand of a small child who blinked wide, bright eyes at the room full of strangers. The boy looked no older than three, dressed in oversized clothes and clutching a ragged stuffed dragon.
"Boys," their uncle greeted, voice tired. "I need a favor."
"We figured," Chan said, closing the grimoire and standing. His eyes moved to the boy. "Who's the kid?"
"This is Felix," their uncle said gently, placing a hand on the toddler's shoulder. "He's your cousin. His parents—"
"Died?" Minho guessed, arms folding across his chest.
"Yes. Car crash two nights ago. Felix was with them. He... teleported out, just in time. Not consciously. Instinctual magic. He's strong. Too strong to be left untrained."
The room went quiet. Felix shifted closer to their uncle, hiding a little behind his leg.
"So you want us to raise him?" Chan asked, voice low. "Like he's our brother?"
"I wouldn't ask if I had another option. You all know what it's like. Losing your parents. Losing stability. But you also know what it's like to have each other. Felix needs that. He needs you."
Jeongin crouched down to Felix's level, smiling gently. "Hey, buddy. I'm Jeongin. You like dragons?"
Felix peeked at him from behind the stuffed toy and gave a tiny nod.
"Cool," Jeongin said. "We've got a whole stack of books with dragons that breathe fire, ice, even one that sings opera."
Felix's eyes widened, just a little.
Chan stepped forward, gaze serious but warm. "We're a coven. A family. We've always looked out for each other. If he's one of us, we'll protect him. Teach him. Love him like he's always been here."
Felix's small hand reached for Chan's, and without hesitation, Chan took it.
"Welcome home, Felix," he said.
The others stepped closer, a ripple of smiles, curious eyes, quiet welcomes.
Minho crouched down next to Jeongin. "You hungry, little witch? Changbin's stew looks like it might actually be edible today."
