Chapter 26- Anth

“I love that you can change me, but I hate what you have made me.”~ Anthony Melo

Me and Conor walk hand in hand down the hallway. I can't help but smile at him; the happiness bursting through me. While walking we see a crowd off people. Leading us towards and through the crowd we find ourselves standing in front of a poster. 'Karaoke night. Your time to shine!’ I can't help but laugh at this. Pulling us out of the crowd Conor and I carry on walking towards the doors.

"What's so funny?" he asks.

"Nothing, that is just so typical of this place to do."

"What? Karaoke night?"

"Yeah, I mean what do they think we are? Old people who have no lives?" I ask him rhetorically.

"No. We are teenagers who want to have some fun, what's the harm in that?"

"Wait... you actually want to go?

"Yeah... Why not?"

"Oh... I see..."

"What?" He furrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"You just want to show off that voice of yours." I smile at him before winking at him.

He puts his free hand to his mouth, while over dramatically gasping. "My fair lady! How did you guess so? You have worked out my plan!"

I can't help but laugh at him. "I'm psychic... babe."

Conor chuckles at my nickname for him. "I take that as a yes? You are joining me on this day?"

"Hhm..." I pretend to think about it before nodding. "It's a date!" I wink at him before making my way over to my car.

Just before I enter my car Conor calls out to me. "Babe! Meeting Anth today! Pick you up at five!" I give him the thumbs up before getting in and driving away.

Parking in front of my house I get out and make my way to my house. Once entering I quickly glance at the clock. Four o'clock. That gives me an hour to get ready before Conor comes. Bounding up the stairs I jump into the shower to help relax my nerves. Why are you so nervous Anna? It's not like it's his family! It's only his friend... His friend who is like his brother! If this is me now how will I be when I go to meet his family? Not wanting to feel those worries I close my eye to enjoy the remaining time of my shower; pushing those worries for later.

Fifty minutes later I'm looking at my casual self in the mirror; wearing a simple yellow knee-length dress with a necklace that comes just down to my chest along with some not-so-high heels and finishing the look with a casual clutch bag. I am wearing minimum makeup and let my hair hang loose behind my back.

I make my way down the stairs when hearing the doorbell ring. Expecting it to be Conor I open the door, surprising myself when I see Jake standing there.

"Er hi?"

He looks me up and down admiring me in the dress. "Hi. I just came to see how you were after..."

Cutting him off short I answer him "Yeah, I'm good. You?"

"Yeah fine. How are things with Conor?" Letting himself in he walks past me and stands next to the couch.
