[STOLEN CHILD]

ELISSE'S P. O. V

Damn it.

If I weren't stuck with someone who refused to die, I would've just let myself drown.

He can't survive alone as his foot was injured. I helped him getting out of the car habang patuloy ito lumulubog. And now, he seems like he is not breathing. Fuck.

I opened his mouth and checked his breathing. "Fuck it, Knoxx. Hindi ako nagpakahirap ilangoy ka rito sa tabing-dagat para mamatay ka."

I performed thirty chest compressions, but he still didn't wake up. "This is my fucking first kiss, Knoxx. You owe me big time." Then I gave him my two rescue breaths.

When he still didn't wake up, I started the chest compressions again. "Kainis naman, oh, sabi ko kay Lord kunin na ako, nagkaresponsibilidad pa talaga. And now my first kiss is getting stolen by someone who's unconscious. If that isn't bad luck, I don't know what is. Grabe naman pagka-Snow white mo. Gi-yuck!" I screamed when he suddenly spat water right into my face.

I dropped down beside him and sat on the sand. "Ang galing. Laway pa nakuha ko. Sobrang swerte ko talaga."

"What happened?" he asked weakly.

"Lumangoy ka sa tahanan ng mga isda. Hindi ko rin maintindihan sa'yo, tao ka naman," I replied, dripping with sarcasm.

His eyes gradually widened. "We are alive."

"Ikaw gusto mo. Ako hindi. Kaya kasalanan mo 'to." I smacked his arm, making him groan in pain. I was about to say sorry but never mind, I just rolled my eyes and stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"To finish what should've been finished a long time ago." Hinakbangan ko siya.

Before I could take another step, he grabbed my hand. "Are you really serious?"

Nilingon ko siya. "Do I look like a joke to you?"

Matagal niya akong tinitigan. "I-I owe you. You can't die yet."

Gently, I removed his hand from mine. "Kapag hindi pa ako mamatay ngayon, for sure mamamatay ako sa kamay ng ama mo. I'd rather my last memory be of myself still beautiful and in one piece-not full of bullet holes or stab wounds."

"You won't die," he said firmly, as if he actually had the power to stop it.

Idinaan ko sa tawa ang sabi niya. "How sure are you? You almost died yourself."

Tumingin siya sa paligid niya. Kumunot ang noo ko.

"I can't walk. No one can help me except you."

We'd have to climb all the way up to reach the highway. He didn't even have a phone to contact his friends.

"This is the last time. Once I hand you over to them, you're never asking me for anything again."

He lifted his hand. "Help me."

Napabuntong-hininga ako at tinulungan siyang makatayo. "You better not slow us down."

We hadn't even been walking for ten minutes when I heard something unpleasant-dagundong lang naman ng tyan niya.

Pinigilan ko ang sarili ko na magreklamo. I needed to be nice if I wanted to end up in heaven.
