I made it back to the tent that I was staying in, feeling exhausted and ready to go to sleep, not caring about anyone or anything that was going on with the campsite while the camp woke up to get ready for the day.
No one bothered me on the walk back to the tent, much to my relief, even though a few people gave me a curious glance, especially since it looked like I was dead on my feet, too tired to do anything besides going to sleep for a couple of hours before I had to do something else.
When I made it to the tent and opened it, Caroline looked up from where she was eating something at the table and breathed a small sigh of relief when she saw that it was just me. "You're still here," she said and continued to eat. "I thought you had left without me."
I shook my head no. "I wouldn't have left without you," I said before I yawned and rubbed my eyes. "I was talking to Fernos the whole night with Silas in the tent with us."
Caroline frowned and furrowed her brows. "Why was Silas with you?" she asked. "Did you figure out what was wrong with him and why you are so protective of me being near him?"
"I caught him doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing," I said and shrugged before I made it over to my bed. "Apparently history likes to repeat itself when it comes to some dynamics that deal with my family or with you know what."
"What do you mean?" Caroline asked and furrowed her brows closer together. "What do I know because I do not know if I know something that you are talking about."
I sighed and rolled my eyes, pursing my lips in annoyance. "It deals with you and what you are," I said instead of telling her that I was talking about her being the red wolf in general.
Caroline blinked and blinked again before realization dawned in her eyes as if she figured out what I meant when I said that. "Oh," she said and nodded. "Ok." She cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. "So what about me being the one and your family with the whole history thing repeating itself? What happened?"
"Apparently, his mate is captured as well as other people that are being held hostage with the Vampires that are following Vulcan's brother and Skylar's orders. He has been trying to find a way to get them out safely."
"And this has happened before?" Caroline asked, and I nodded in confirmation. "With who?"
"My uncle, TJ," I said and shrugged. "Unlike Silas, he was made to look like the prince to try and capture Mom that way."
"Did it work?" Caroline asked and furrowed her brows, cocking her head to the side. "I would think that it wouldn't and your mother knew that she was being set up."
"She knew that she was being set up," I said and yawned. "She decided to set the trap to help rescue all of the people that were there. I think only one person was killed and then one was left behind."
"Why was someone left behind?" Caroline asked. "That doesn't sound like something a red wolf should do."
"Mom was told to leave the person behind," I said and shrugged. "She didn't like it, but she did what she was told to do."
"Who was left behind?"
"Cason," I said and shrugged again. "I think there had to be something done with him, and his father was nearby so it wasn't that big of a deal that he was left behind."
"However, he is dead over here."
"And so is my mom, which is why you are here." I yawned and stretched, laying down on my bed. "Now, I am going to take a nap because I am tired, and I will talk to you later."
"Do you need me to stay in the tent while you rest, or can I leave?" she asked and wrinkled her nose, pursing her lips in annoyance, and I had a feeling that she didn't want to stay in the tent while I slept.
"You can do whatever the hell it is that you want to do," I said and shrugged, biting back a small grimace. "Just be careful with Silas, and do not let him know that you know something is going on with him or others he may come in contact with. We're working on things behind the scenes so that you stay safe and then doing what we need to do to rescue those that are captured."
Caroline slowly nodded and furrowed her brows, biting back a small pout. "What if he tries to change the plans?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"Then he has another thing coming for him," I said and shrugged, biting back a small growl of protectiveness because I did not like the idea of him changing the plans that were about to be set in motion. "He will have a pissed off Demon King and more than an angry and annoyed Siran."
She slowly nodded and furrowed her brows, biting back a small frown. "Do you think he will try to change the plans while you are asleep?"
"No," I said and shook my head because I didn't think he would try to change any plans we may have come up with all night long. "He is not that stupid and knows that I am going to do what I need to do to make sure that you stay safe and are ready for whatever it is that you need to face."
"So that you can go home?" Caroline asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "Or at least back in your timeline because I have a feeling that you won't be able to go home just yet, right?"
I let out a breathless chuckle while there was a small stab in my heart, and I couldn't help but miss my home even more. "Yes," I said, my voice barely above a whisper while longing filled my body. "I am doing what I can to try and get back to my timeline and pray that there are no long interruptions with that plan."
Even if it were only in my dreams...
