luke.

friday.
luke wanted nothing more than to vigorously pound his head against the wall and groan out loud. he was sick and tired of what he felt inside; it drained all his energy away and caused him lack of sleep. the thing about developing feelings for someone you barely know is that those feelings are usually unanswered or one-sided. he found it truly awful, having mixed emotions towards someone who could never really be yours.
whatever feelings he possessed towards andie – whether it was attraction, allure, interest, or an infatuation overall – he couldn't stand it anymore. the more those feelings grew inside of him, the more it messed up his head. he was stuck in his state, as if walls trapped him alone with his thoughts. he absolutely hated it. on top of that, she hadn't spoken to him for days, and he felt the need to associate with her grow stronger; it became unbearable. luke had always seen couples becoming obsessed with each other, as if nothing else in the world mattered. he just never thought he'd feel something similar to that himself, since he always perceived that as absurd and unhealthy.
"i'm thinking of dying my hair black with a blue streak in it." michael's voice was very low to luke's ears, but he still heard him.
"yeah, sounds good." luke chimed in and licked his teeth quickly. the food he was currently eating wasn't particularly tasty, but he filled his stomach with it nonetheless.
"oh, this is just lovely." michael said sarcastically and crossed his arms above the lunch table. luke gave him a questioning look by frowning and waited for him to explain.
"what?" he asked and unconsciously glanced over at andie's and cameron's table.
"britney and ashton are in their own, giggly, little bubble, and you're always absent. which leaves me alone. i wish calum attended our school, he always keeps me company." michael complained and motioned towards their two other friends, who indeed were caught up in their own world, by nodding as he spoke about them.
"i'm sorry, mate. i really hate being like this, and you shouldn't have to feel like that."
"exactly." michael smirked and nudged luke's upper arm with his own. "so you better actually hang out with me until those two..." he paused, only to lift his fork and move it sideways, gesturing to ashton and britney. "... comes back from their honeymoon phase."
"they're not even a couple." luke chuckled and shook his head slightly.
"they will be, and the sooner, the better. speaking of couples; mind to tell me what exactly causes you to be like you are right now? is it andie?" michael's face softened as he asked, and he didn't look curious or eager to know – he just seemed like he wanted to support and help out his best friend, which luke appreciated more than anything.
"sort of. i can't help what i feel, and after our detention hour a few days ago, it feels stronger. like... i'm drawn to her, you know? it's bugging me to death." luke sighed and spared a glimpse at andie. she sat in the exact same position she had been during the whole lunch. it worried him, but he pushed it aside.
"what exactly did happen a few days ago?"
"it's friday today, right? must've been tuesday then. we really talked, and she told me a bit about her sister, we played hangman and then... i sort of gave her a ride home." luke timidly spoke, fiddling with his ring.
michael's mouth went agape, but no words left his tongue. he was shocked to say at least, and he couldn't prevent his fist to collide with luke's arm.
