thursday.

luke gathered his books and hesitated before making his way over to andie. he leaned his side against the cold lockers, but she couldn't see him yet, not until she closed her locker.

"shit!" andie exclaimed and slightly jumped when luke appeared from nowhere.

"hi." he smirked, straightening his back. "how are you?"

"i'm good. why are you being creepy?" she started walking down the hallway, giving him a funny look.

"i'm just asking." he shrugged and bit his lower lip. "are you really good?"

"yes?" she laughed, raising her eyebrows. "why wouldn't i be?"

"well... you broke up with jake and you haven't said much about it." he reminded her, looking down at their feet.

"oh." she mumbled and hugged her books. "he called me the same day and we talked for a while. in the end, the break up was mutual. it wasn't going to work anyway. i'm fine, lucas."

luke nodded before disappearing into the classroom he was supposed to be in. andie entered her class and sat down beside cameron.

andie and luke had been hanging out more the past week. not hanging out at each other's houses, but after school by the schoolyard, in the library and one time they were in a forest. she was slowly relaxing with him, which she couldn't deny was a relieving feeling. but she had never been to his house, and frankly, she was afraid to ever go there. sure, she's met jack and his mother for a mere two minutes, but that was a quick hello. she was afraid of actually interacting with his family.

"what are you drawing?" cameron asked as he peeked over her shoulder.

"it's supposed to be a wolf but... honestly, this is horrible." andie laughed quietly and shook her head at her terrible drawing skills.

"yeah, it is." cameron agreed, suppressing a smirk. "can we talk about how you and blonde boy are growing closer?"

she averted her eyes from the paper to him, seeming surprised. he crossed his arms and waited for her to speak, but she didn't know what to even say.

"his name is lucas." she smiled faintly, mirroring his action. "and we're not growing closer. we're just hanging out more." she shrugged.

"yeah, like every day." cameron remarked. "don't get me wrong, i'm happy you two are friends. especially now that we're friends with his friends. it makes lunch more fun."

"are you implying that i'm boring?" she frowned jokingly and huffed.

cameron grinned and shook his head before glancing over at their teacher who wasn't paying them any attention.

"no. i'm just saying that it's more vivid and entertaining with a few more people by the table." he expressed, smiling.

"yeah, it is." she admitted, rolling the pen between her fingers. "it's just weird. that's all."

"i know you have a hard time accepting people, but these are good ones. let that barrier down for a few more and you'll realize what a wonderful thing life is." he said poetically (on purpose) and nudged her side.

"life sucks no matter what. you just have to deal with it and—"

"—make the best out of it." he quickly butted in before she had the time to finish her sentence. "seriously though, you're happier because you have more things to do now. and seeing my best friend happy makes me happy."
