wednesday.

"hey." luke exhaled as he sat down beside andie in the classroom; detention.

andie had her face buried against her chest and was breathing deeply, as if sleeping. he then disovered that she was in fact sleeping, so his hands gently shook her until she stirred. but she didn't look up.

"stop touching me or i'll cut your hands off." andie muttered, her voice muffled by her arms but still perfectly comprehensible.

"i'm sorry love, but i need to talk to you." luke sighed and waited patiently for her to wake up. her head half lifted upwards, only to the point where her arms were hiding everything beneath her big eyes. she stared at him, which literally indicated for him to speak. "you look tired."

"jeez thanks. i'm wearing my face." she snapped tiredly and rolled her eyes.

"what's up with you?" he asked after a brief paus and bit on his lip.

she abruptly frowned at his question and he almost felt stupid for asking that. but he needed to, he was worried.

"with me? nothing." she mumbled and shifted uncomfortably.

"something must be up. you've been off for more than a week, you barely talk, you're sleeping during lessons and you seem generally worn out." he rattled off everything he's noticed and cocked his head to the side.

"i'm fine. just some lack of sleep." she mumbled and sat up straight, gazing down at her lap.

"you're such a bad liar, andie."

"and you need to stop asking so many bloody questions." she retorted, but seemed to regret it instantly. therefore, luke didn't bother about her comment.

"i care, alright. hey." he mumbled and forced her to look at him by putting to fingers under her chin. "you can tell me anything."

"i told you; i'm tired, haven't been able to sleep." she muttered and pushed his hand away.

with a heavy sigh, luke decided not to push it further more. it did frustrate him how she wouldn't talk and open up to him, but getting on her nerves would merely provoke her and make her angry. and he didn't wish for that.

"do you want to do something with me?" he suddenly asked, folded his arms against the table and rested his chin against them; almost mirroring her former position.

"like what, lucas?" she sighed and did the same again.

"wanna' start watching the walking dead with me?" he asked with a dimpled smile and scanned her face for any sign of life.

"is that the show about zombies?" she asked in a murmur, frowning slightly. he nodded once. "sure, why not?"

"really?" he grinned and licked his lips, realizing what a stupid response that was.

"yes, really." she rolled her eyes and seemed to suppress a stupid smile — that put a smile to his face.

"great, because no one else wants to watch it with me and i want to watch it with you."

they remained silent after that, simply gazing at each other. he couldn't quite read her face, but as the minutes passed, more softness seemed to show and he wondered what she had been up to that week.

ms. crawford approached them carefully with some papers in her hands and sat down on the table in front of them. she pursed her lips and softly slipped the paper on their table, by andie's arm.
