sunday.

"i'm such an idiot."

luke had his face buried in his hands while sitting in calum's couch. he groaned and sighed while his friend patted him on the back.

"no, you're not." calum tried to assure him and frowned weakly.

"yes, i am. how could i just walk off and leave her there? what if she's dead? what if a murderer found her and—"

"luke." calum cut him off with a laugh and leaned back in the couch. "she's probably fine. stop beating yourself up."

"i don't even understand what got to me. she was finally opening up, and i stupidly left!" luke continued his complaining and self-blaming.

"i can't blame you though. she lied about something, of course it's going to make you mad." calum defended him and seemed pained.

"still." luke muttered and stood up, completely overtaken by frustration.

"maybe you just need to do something, relax and then talk to her again. how about we play some soccer?" calum suggested, shrugging a little.

"too much activity. the movies?" luke said, crossing his arms against his chest.

"yes, the movies!" calum smiled and stood up, but the smile faded very quickly. "no, wait, no."

"why not?" luke dragged out the words.

"that's... too boring." calum excused. luke rolled his eyes and dressed on his shoes anyway, ushering for calum to join him.

"come on, the movies will be great." luke opened the door when calum had gathered his essentials.

andie pulled her fingers through her hair, ruffled a little at the top and made it fall back. she tapped on the counter with her fingers until two people approached her.

"hello." she forced a polite smile at the pair and straightened her back.

"hi, two tickets to the 5th wave, please." the man said, pulling up his credit card.

"yes, where would you like to sit? here are the free seats." she exhaled, turning the computer screen so they could see it too. the two picked their seats and bought a popcorn menu too.

"god, that smile is so fake." the guy beside andie uttered once the two had left and smirked.

"well, i have to." andie shrugged and supported her upper body with her elbow against the counter. "and yours isn't much better."

"at least i don't look pained after smiling." he laughed and took a piece of his candy, and then offered her one.

"no thanks." she declined the offer and straightened her back. "well, you'd be pained too if you had to fake a smile all day and then have a co-worker who's annoying."

"i'm not annoying, and you know that." he snorted and peered up. "you've got a family coming."

andie could see the silhouettes approaching, so she turned straight foward again and prepared a smile.
