AU with no wives.

Rhett looked at the clock on his wrist for at least tenth time during the ten minutes' drive to the hairdresser where Link was at the moment. He didn't have a habit of using an actual physical clock, so looking at it almost felt like Rhett could control time. At least he hoped, since he and Link were getting late for an important business dinner.

It wasn't intentional. Link insisted in having his haircut done quite long ago but just now gained the courage. He was supposed to be out of there long ago, but apparently the hairdresser liked to talk more than actually doing her job. Rhett smiled at Link's message, though there wasn't much to smile about. They were late!

Rhett wasn't the most punctual either. He almost got in a fight with his suit before leaving the house. Nothing was working properly: the tie, the buttons, even the pants zipper! The taller almost gave up on leaving at all. But of course that was easier to think about than actually doing. The dinner was important for the future of their careers.

Rhett parked the car pretty close the hairdresser. He looked at himself in the rear-view mirror, just as an instinct. It wasn't that important to look good now. He was just going to pick up Link. Yet still, he gave extra attention to his hair, passing his fingers through some hairs that were sticking out. He didn't even have time to properly style it! Everything was a disaster so far...

The blond got out of the car and took off his phone from the front pocket of his pants. There was one unopened message from Link, though he didn't even have time to put his code on the phone when his eyes met a familiar figure walking out of the salon.

Link's eyes met his but Rhett concentrated more on the new hairstyle his friend had. It took him a couple of seconds to take in what was happening. The dark haired wasn't joking when he said he wanted to change it quite drastically. The wings were completely gone, being replaced by shortly cut sides. The hair on top was longer, swiped to the side but now revealing Link's entire forehead. It also looked really fluffy as some strings of it flew slightly out of place with the slight wind that passed through the air.

Suddenly all of Rhett's frustration was gone. When his eyes met Link's again, this time with a more confused expression, the blond realized he was staring and smiling, probably looking like a fool. But he couldn't help it. He couldn't even take his eyes off Link. The man looked so different... So stunning!

- Rhett! – the smaller spoke louder, making Rhett slightly jump with the sudden attention call. – C'mon! – the dark haired said with a more strict tone now.

Right. The dinner. Oh that definitely felt irrelevant now. Rhett needed some time with just Link. Only the two of them. This felt like a much bigger deal now! He looks adorable, Rhett thought and understood he wasn't able to make that stupid smile disappear.

They entered into the car. Rhett behind the wheel, Link on the back seat since the dark haired had to put on his suit. It seemed like a much easier task in his mind.

Rhett drove carefully, especially because his eyes switched a lot from to road to the rear-view mirror, where he'd observe a shirtless Link trying to put on his pants without ruining them too much.

- Stop that! – the dark haired complained.

Rhett smiled. – What did I do?

- You're staring... Again!

- I'm not. – the blond teased, looking at Link through the mirror once again. This time their eyes met.

- Look at the road! – Link pointed to the front, making Rhett's immediately concentrate on driving. Luckily the streets were almost empty.
