The working schedule had finished hours ago yet the heavy rain still persisted on falling without any pauses. Everyone from the crew had made the smart decision of just leaving while the rain was still quite weak, regardless of how wet they would get until they arrived to their car, but neither Rhett or Link made de same decision. Though Rhett would have to do what Link wanted, since he was his ride.
The dark haired man persisted in staying in the studio and wait for the rain to vanish, but exactly the opposite thing happened as the drops started to get bigger and very soon almost the whole street was covered in huge water puddles and they arrived to a point where it was almost 11pm, the rain wouldn't stop and the thunder was about to join it. Yet the fact of still being in the studio didn't bother Link as much as he wished. Stuff at home weren't the best lately, nothing was the best lately to be honest, so he was glad to just enjoy some quiet hours on his own. On his own because Rhett was on the kitchen downstairs, while Link silently sat in their office.
He sighed as he looked at the empty place in front of him. Even though he wasn't much up for talking, he wished Rhett was there to just have his presence. But the fight that happened earlier didn't really help with that. Plus, he must be more than upset about having to be stuck here. He could've called someone to get him, Link thought to himself. This ain't my fault.
The dark haired man's body jerked as a loud noise of thunder echoed outside. He swallowed loudly and tried to avoid looking through the huge windows beside him, but the lightning would always catch his eye and the thunders would always make his heart beat a bit faster.
Link continued to make an extra effort to concentrate on his laptop, clicking through some sites, until out of nowhere all the lights went down, leaving Link static on his chair as another loud noise filled the space. His heart was beating fast again and his breathing had accelerated a bit.
His fear of dark activated as he slowly looked around, trying not to think too much about what was happening.
He heard steps outside of the room and then finally, Rhett walked inside. He let out a silent sigh of relief, feeling a bit safer.
- The power's gone. - Rhett informed in a dry tone, sitting on the couch they had in the office. Link followed his slow movements with his eyes.
- What do we do now?
Rhett shrugged. - It's not really safe to drive so... We gotta wait until it passes.
- What if it lasts all night? - Link asked after a pause. Another loud thunder broke out, making Link squeeze his eyes and tense up his shoulders. He then immediately looked at Rhett, who had a surprised look on his face.
- Are you suggesting we leave?
- I'm just asking... - he answered with a lower voice.
They remained in silence for some moments, until another lightening gave the room a weak illumination and another thunder echoed. Link was sat pretty close to the window and all the noises were pretty loud for him, making him hold his breath for a couple of seconds.
Rhett sighed and got up from the sofa, making his way to the door.
- Where are you going? - Link asked alarmed with the fact that he'd be alone in the room.
- I'll be right back. - the tall man opened the door.
- Rhett!
The blond turned around and looked at Link. - I'll be back in less than 10 seconds, I promise. - he spoke with a sweeter voice and left the room. Link gulped and closed his eyes until he heard noises in the room, seeing Rhett beside the sofa once again.
The tall man took off the pillows from the couch and carefully placed them on the floor in front of it.
- What are you doing?
- You'll see.
- Wh... - the smaller man was interrupted with another noise, wishing that Rhett would just hurry up. His friend put a white sheet on top of the pillows, covering them almost completely.
- C'mon. - Rhett called and kneeled in front of his creation.
- What?
- Can you just!
Link said nothing more and got up from his chair, quickly walking beside Rhett.
- Why a pillow fortress?
- Just get in.
Link obeyed and carefully went under the white sheet. He crossed his legs and leaned on the sofa behind them. Rhett also got in and pulled two more big pillows, closing the space a little but more, leaving some space with nothing blocking it, which gave them a perfect view to the big window in the room.
Link felt Rhett's arm embrace him, his hand landing on his shoulder and pulling Link's body closer to the tall man's. He put one of his legs on Rhett's and got into a much more comfortable position.
Another thunder exploded, making Link sigh deeply. His anxiety had risen a bit, but on that moment and in that position, he felt safer than ever. He closed his eyes, relieved that the stupid fight they had earlier didn't interfere in a moment like this.
- I'm sorry... - the dark haired man almost whispered as he laid his head on Rhett's shoulder.
- Don't worry about it.
- I was stupid...
- Link, shush it now. - Rhett answered right before one more thunder exploded. He felt Link's muscles tense up so he placed a long sweet kiss on top of the other man's head, inhaling the smell of his shampoo and feeling him relaxing. Rhett also didn't enjoy loud storms, but something about being here and having someone to hold made that fear just go away.
Link raised his head and felt Rhett's breathing on his lips, yet none of them backed away.
- Thank you. - he weakly smiled.
- You are very welcome. - the blond man answered, leaning with his forehead on Link's. Another thunder echoed, but this time a little more far away.
- I don't know why I never thought about a pillow fortress during storms. - Link lightly laughed.
- Cause I'm smarter than you. - Rhett smirked, feeling their breaths mixing up.
- Yeah right. - the dark haired man giggled as he got slightly closer to Rhett until he felt their lips almost touching.
- What is happening? - the taller man asked with a low voice, his lips brushed on Link's sending a shiver through his whole body.
- Something that haven't happened in quite a while? - Link swallowed passing his hand through Rhett's beard, feeling it's sharpness yet at the same time softness, if that was somehow possible.
- That is true...
As Rhett answered, Link planted a soft kiss on his lips. It was so sweet and good that the bearded guy forcedly secured himself from holding Link's head and kissing him more deeply, more passionately. Instead of that, he just enjoyed the taste, being happy with the remainder of how lovely Link's kisses were.
They heard another thunder but it didn't make them back away not even for a second nor have a body reaction to the sudden noise, like nothing had happened around them.
- I like this technique... - Link whispered against Rhett's lips, separating them for a slight moment.
- Uh-hm. - the other man just answered, pulling his partner closer to him once again.A/N:Hey! Well I'm quite on fire aren't I? Another update for you lovely readers! I hope you enjoy this small fluffy thingy and let me know what you think! :)
