Warning: description of a dead animal (not too much really, but I guess it should be a warning).

None of the guys really slept that night. Rhett was aware he drifted away for a couple of minutes, but that was it. Charles kept still for the entire nigh but from time to time, the blond could see his eyelids move. Not that he was looking at the other man too much... He just happened to notice that.

Fortunately, the night was calm. Charles took the advantage of the dead walker and traced a circle around the area where they were sat with the insides of the creature. It wasn't much, but still a help to keep the other dead away. A helpful tip known by basically everyone by now. The smell was disgusting, but both of them were used to it by now.

The sun wasn't yet up when the two men decided to keep moving. The day promised to be pretty warm. Rhett grabbed his weapon and the small plastic bottle – which was empty by now – and walked to his horse.

- We'll keep heading north. – Charles spoke while walking closer to his own horse. – We can get some water and food on the way. We set up some traps not too far from here. Hopefully there'll be somethin'.

Rhett just nodded and got up on the animal. He should ask Charles about the horses name...

Last night was tense. Maybe unnecessarily tense. The blond felt quite bad for his accusations. He shouldn't have said what he did. Charles was a stranger to him and Rhett's head was just boiling at that moment. Probably because he wasn't really used to be the one taking the orders.

Sure, he and his group worked together at the big and small decisions and Rhett tried to listen to them as much as possible. But at the end of the day, the final word was his, the order was his, and all the others had to do was obey.

At least this won't last for too long the blond thought to himself, hoping they got back to the camp in a couple of days. Four, five? That's what Spencer had said. And two days had already passed. So this shouldn't take too long now. Well, at least he hoped it wouldn't. Rhett would try to follow Charles' instructions, but he wasn't too sure he could take that for too long. Both of them were alphas, and that was never a good idea.

Spencer. The rest of the group. Rhett sighed. He truly hoped they were okay and safe. Fingers crossed Turner's guys won't go for them and trap them somewhere. They probably wouldn't let them live... Or would they? Just to torture them. Yeah, Turner was well capable of that. Sick son of a bitch...

The air was fresh. Rhett's horse walked right behind Charles'. The silence was somehow relaxing until a couple of minutes later, a walker started approaching. There weren't that many so deep into the woods. Most of them wandered on the borders, beside the roads, where more noise was made. The blond took his machete and hit the creature in the head.

That could be someone's mother his mind reminded him. Rhett rolled his eyes at his own self. Way too much time had passed to still be thinking about the morals of killing walkers. Mother, father, husband, girlfriend, did it even matter anymore? The person wasn't the same anymore, so whatever.

Even though, Rhett's brain kept him awake sometimes, thinking about what happened to the human that turned into a walker. What if they were still there? What if the person was aware of everything around them, but had no control in her body? That was probably the scariest part... Nobody ever wanted to turn into a walker, claiming they wanted to die with dignity rather than be turned into a flesh eater. But deep down, they were just scared to see how the world would look through those soulless eyes. So no one took the risk...

The two men kept walking and walking until the rays of sun that were able to penetrate through the branches of the trees, started to get a little too hot. Yet it was still morning. This is going to be a long day Rhett thought to himself. With Spencer time passed a little faster since they'd just talk it out. But now, talking to someone didn't seem to be even close to Rhett...
