Another week flew by. Link was actually surprised about how fast the time had passed. Every day at work, he'd look forward to go home, but now for better reasons. Somehow, this time that type of thoughts made the time pass faster. As soon as the hour arrived, Link would throw on his jacket and leave his small shared office without even saying goodbye to the person working beside him. The dark haired knew it didn't matter for them. Sometimes his presence wasn't even acknowledged in there. It was like two people at two completely different universes. But it wasn't a drag. Link didn't care, really.
The travel from the airport to his building was spent listening to random songs that passed on the radio, from time to time humming to their melody as he wondered how Rhett was doing. Link found himself worried sometimes. What if Rhett thinks about something crazy and slips out of the bathtub? What if when he arrives home, Rhett is lying on the floor as weak as when Link first found him? What if? Of course the blond was smarter than that, but what if?!
Though that never happened. Link would always find Rhett lying in his bathtub, either playing with his duck or reading a random book Link would give him. The dark haired discovered that Rhett actually knew how to read, not so well how to write. The merman explained that the undersea world had their own language, their own letters and ways to write. It was a complicated thing to learn. Something about which you haven't even imagined about. It wasn't like learning about a new language, but yes, like learning about a whole new universe. Which probably wasn't too far from Link's reality.
That was one of many nights that Link had passed sat beside Rhett's bathtub till late hours, listening to the other guy talk about anything and everything. Learning new realities. Also, annoying Rhett with his boring life and grumpy coworkers. It became a routine. A routine that exhausted Link, but he didn't even for a second think about changing it.
The dark circles under his eyes had definitely intensified, but again, Link didn't care. He went to bed with a sleepy smile on his face. At one point, Link thought about how it felt he had known Rhett for a couple years now, when in reality it hasn't even been a month.
It all went in a circle. He was tired, but he was happier.
Link also enjoyed cooking for the blond guy. He had never been much of a cooking gperson, but with this new company, Link just had to learn how to make new foods. It all started by learning a couple of recipes for Rhett. How to properly cook the weird Japanese algae he bought or how to properly make a burger, but with that research also came the desire to improve his own diet. So Link's savings were almost all lost because of the foods he bought. Plus, he'd now have to buy the double amount of cereal since Rhett enjoyed it a lot when Lincoln presented it to him.
It was a hurrying morning. Link walked into the bathroom with the cereal bowl in one hand, quickly grabbing his toothbrush with another.
- Here. – he put the bowl on the free space beside the bathtub, taking a quick second to appreciate how Rhett had arranged the few bottles of shampoo and shower gel Link had there. The amount of them had increased since Rhett begged for Link to bring him something that made the water smell nice.
- Cereal? – Rhett asked as he put down an old magazine and looked over at the dish.
- Uhum. – Link answered, already putting his toothbrush in work, possibly a bit too harshly. Such big amount of toothpaste made Link make a face as the minty flavor was getting pretty painful, giving him small bites inside his mouth.

Rhett leaned against the border of the tub. – White liquid? – he grabbed the spoon, giving the food a light stir.
- Milk.
- Milk. – Rhett repeated. He put a small amount of the liquid and some small pillow look-alike cereal on the spoon, taking some seconds to observe it. The "milk" wasn't inviting, but Rhett liked to try new things. So, quickly, he put the spoon inside his mouth, squeezing his eyes as if eating that was an unwanted thing.
When he digested the food, his eyes traveled to Link, who was already looking at him, the toothbrush still inside his mouth. As their eyes met, Lincoln quickly looked away, spitting out the foam inside the sink. – So? – he asked Rhett right before filling his mouth with water.
Rhett shrugged. – I'd prefer just the cereal.
- Understandable. – Link nodded. – Want some more?
- Can I? – the blond guy's eyes almost lit up.
Link smiled, shaking his head at the once again exaggerated expression from the other man. He left the room, coming back quickly, but this time with the cardboard box filled with cereal in his hand.
- Here. – he gave it to Rhett, taking away the bowl.
- Mini Wheats... - Rhett read. – Thanks! – he gave Link a big smile, his cheeks cutely popping out. Link couldn't help but smile back. The blond man was definitely too adorable for this world.
- I'll bring your lunch in a minute. – the dark haired answered, eating one final full spoon of cereals from the bowl.
