Zombie Apocalypse AU
Warning: description of injury, poor state of acharacter, mentions of death.
Rhett held tightly to his stomach, which was kicked around like a ball some hours ago. The right side of his face still felt numb from the punch that luckily didn't break his nose or his jaw. Or maybe it did. He wasn't too sure for now. Maybe it was for the best it staying numb for the rest of the time. The little amount of food he had eaten this morning lay in the opposite corner of the small jail cell he was thrown in after they beat him up in front of his people. When they were done, he was put back in line and with absolutely no feeling in his body, watched his friends get the same treatment as him and die.
Rhett wondered if it was karma. If after all these years surviving and killing, this was what came to him as a punishment. He realized how fucked up the world was at this point. If there was a world... Maybe that wasn't the right word anymore. At this point, this was just a gigantic rock floating in space, holding on it dead that lived. They were all dead at this point, there's no doubt in that. Rhett included.
He moved a little, his back complaining as he leaned against a dirty cold wall. As if that was the biggest problem he had right now. As if he wasn't bleeding to death and soon be watching more people dear to him die. The blond chuckled to himself. How ridiculous was all of this? Absolutely crazy.
- Hey. Pshh. – he heard a voice. Looking up, Rhett just saw a black silhouette mixing with the darkness around. Blinking his eyes a couple of times, he wondered if this was what happened before you die or someone was actually there. – Quit going crazy and come here.
The blond squinted his eyes, the words the other man said just interlaced with each other in his head. He had to be hallucinating. Well, maybe if he moved and attempted to leave, they'd finish him off or something.
- What? – he was able to mutter out and shifted in his place once again, making a face at the pain that overtook his entire body. Everything just hurt. They got him good...
- Come here, for fucks sake! – the other whispered louder and Rhett watched him open the door of the cell. Oh, this was definitely a hallucination. When he walked out, maybe there would be a light at the end of the tunnel or something cliché like that. Was the dark silhouette an angel or something? He chuckled again. This was so ridiculous he didn't even try to convince himself that it was just his mind playing tricks on him.
- Coming. – he answered louder and tried to stand up, his hand sliding down the disgusting wall, making the blond fall back on the floor.
- Be quiet. – the mythical creature spoke. Maybe a little too harsh of a tone used there. Wasn't he supposed to be treated like a king on his way to heaven? Oh. Oh! He was going to hell!
The, whoever that was, walked into the small place and lowered itself before Rhett. Then, with a sharp and brusque movement, the silhouette grabbed Rhett's waist and pulled him up, earning from the taller a loud whine. – Shut up! – they whispered and started walking towards the door.
Rhett couldn't help it. Everything hurt. It was like his insides were exposed to the outside and someone was playing with them, messing them around with a sharp stick. He felt like vomiting again, but there was literally nothing else to vomit. He had absolutely nothing inside his stomach. The small headache that wondered around his head seemed like a minimal problem right now. I mean, headaches were long ago considered child play. Yet Rhett couldn't help but notice how it crushed his head. Ticking inside like a bomb that at a wrong move would splash his brains on the walls of this horrendous place.
