Chapter 22

Chapter 22:

The nurse gave us some kind of shot in our IV's. We calmed down and just stared around feeling numb. "Where is Kendall?" I asked the nurse as she made sure I was stable.

"You guys have quite a group out in the waiting room. Are you ready to see them?" She asked walking away and looking at us at the doorway.

"Only Kendall." I said.

"And Carlos." Alexa choked out. The nurse nodded and hurried out the door, leaving it cracked a bit. Soon we heard heavy breathers.

"Now they are a little fidgety. They have flashbacks and that increases their heart rates. I gave them some 'calmers' so they should be a little tired or feel a little numb. So they might fall asleep." She said and opened the door. Kendall wasn't in his costume anymore. He was in a simple blue long sleeved shirt and jeans. He had outrage and sadness in his panicked eyes.

"Carlos!" Alexa yelled as he ran to her side. Soon enough Kendall was next to me as hesitating to touch me.

"Hey baby." Kendall said sweetly.

I reached out with my right hand, he took it and smiled sadly. He held it softly and brought it up to his lips. "Are you okay?" He asked. I nodded.

"Are you okay?" I asked my voice a bit hoarse. He shook his head.

"I asked James why he didn't have any type of bouncer or anything. He feels terrible, especially for you, because you were hassled by drunk Halston, and then that bastard...." He drifted off squeezing my hand a little too tight.

"Ah." I said gasping.

"Oh my God! I'm sorry! Oh my God." He said laying my hand back on the bed.

"No..." I said reaching for his again. He sighed and sat on the edge of the bed and moved some of my still curled hair out of my face.

"I shouldn't have let you leave my side." Kendall whispered holding my hand in both of his.

"Kendall... You can't blame yourself. Or anyone except that woman beater ghost. God had this happen for a reason." I told him. He shook his head.

"God shouldn't have let this happen. This isn't something that happens for a reason." He said obviously angry at the creator he and I both believed in.

"There's a reason for this. The reason is to teach either me a lesson or maybe him..." I said trailing off feeling a bit sleepy. Kendall shook his head. He looked over to the other couple in the room.

"Your bruises aren't as bad as hers, but you have a black eye and a busted lip." He said. I nodded as his eyes met mine again.

"It's because I knew how to fight back. I wasn't going to get hurt without a fight." I whispered to him. He smiled weakly.

"That's my girl." He said smiling as he slowly leaned down and kindly kissed my lips softly. I wanted more but I knew my lip was tender by the soft touch just now.

"Why would some grown ass man hit women?!" Carlos said throwing his hands up in the air. Alexa was quiet in her bed as her little body was almost hidden in the sheets.

"Carlos calm down please." Alexa whispered. He looked towards us and then calmed down a bit. Just then two police officers were let into our room by the same nurse who let in Carlos and Kendall.

"Miss Adams and Miss Vega?" The first one asked. Alexa and I looked at one another and nodded. "Could we please speak with the girls alone gentlemen?" They asked Kendall and Carlos acted like they were going to stand to leave when I spoke up.

"No they are staying. They know the story too. Carlos saw the guy too." I said. The police looked at one another as the other shorter cop spoke this time.

"Ma'am, we asked if they would leave for this questioning, and-"

"look, I want my boyfriend here. I don't care if you asked them to see the president down the hall to get the noble peace prize, Kendall is staying with me, and I'm sure Alexa would prefer to have Carlos with her as well." I told them. I knew how cops were, acting all tough, thinking they intimidated me. They were just going to take pictures of our uncovered wombs, and then ask us what he looked like and if we had anyone out to get us, our boyfriends could be present for that.
