Chapter 52:
Bright light woke me as my eyelids reluctantly opened my eyes to something I haven't seen since I've been in Colorado. Snow! I hurried to stand up and look out the opened curtains to see a thin line of snow covering the ground just enough to say it was 'snowing'. Although this snow was nothing compared to the snow in Colorado, it still made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I peeled myself from the window going to take a shower. I showered quickly coughing most the time and used some of the products I had gotten last night from Kathy. I got dressed in Kendall's tan reindeer and snowflake sweater, black jeans, and tan leg warmers. My make up was dark today since I knew there would be lots of pictures. I blew my hair dry and then curled the ends while pulling back the top half. I finally finished and made my way down stairs to the smell of cinnamon as always on special occasions. I heard clinking of plates and Kathy speaking.
"Kendall, you should go wake Bobby up, breakfast is almost ready." She told him.
"Alright, ma." He said. I was halfway down the stairs when Kendall was jogging out of the kitchen and made it to the first step before he noticed me standing there. "Hey beautiful! You're up and ready!" He said. I smiled at him and nodded. I walked down the rest of the stairs and stood on the bottom step and leaned in for a kiss but pulled back. "What's wrong?" He asked as he was expecting a kiss. I started to feel a cough coming on as I covered my mouth with my sweater.
"Take your medicine?" He asked. I nodded. He gave me an empathetic look and smiled sadly. "Come on then." He said taking my hand leading me into the kitchen to the well dressed family of Schmidt's. Kendall was in another one of his tan sweaters with a white undershirt popping out of the zipper collar, with tan jeans, and he wore only white socks on his feet. Kathy however was in a black shirt with a purple sweater herself. Kent, Kenneth, and Kevin all wore long sleeved shirts and it almost looked like they were trying to match.
"Bobby! You look adorable! Doesn't she look adorable guys?" Kathy gushed talking to the guys as she pulled out a pan of cinnamon rolls. Kent smiled at me, Kenneth eyed my sweater smirking, and Kevin complimented me on my jewelry choices.
"Thanks, this really nice guy gave me this bracelet last night." I teased as I sat next to Kendall like how we did last night playing Monopoly. Kathy brought over a new batch of cinnamon rolls to the table and asked me if I needed anything. "Uhm, I think I'll make myself some hot chocolate." I told her standing up again. I walked over to the kitchen with her as she told me about how she got up at five to stick the turkey in the oven, and how she now put in the ham. "Sounds like a wonderful feast we're going to have though." I told her smiling as I filled the kettle with water then placed it on a burner.
"Hey Boo, will you make me some?" Kendall asked mid bite of his first cinnamon roll. I nodded. I grabbed two mugs and the variety of tins of hot chocolate. I knew Kendall well enough not ask what kind he'd want. I dumped the powder in and stirred pouring in mini marshmallows and walking over giving it to him. "Thanks babe." He said. I walked back over to the stove.
"Men.. Always asking us for stuff..." Kathy joked as I poured some raspberry hot chocolate into my mug. I laughed and nodded. "Sweetie you should get used to it, once you get a ring, it's all downhill from there. They ask you for coffee, or for a sandwich. But then again, it's also uphill... Kendall treats you Better than I've ever seen a man treat a woman." She told me watching her son, as I glanced back at him. He was laughing at something Kenneth had joked about, and looked completely happy just sitting there. I smiled to myself as Kathy went back to cutting cinnamon roll dough as I went back to the table. I put a cinnamon roll on my plate and began to eat it as Kendall's arm found it's way around the back of my chair.
