Chapter 33:
I sat, my knees under my chin as I caught my breath outside in the crisp winter air. Then I heard the door open and close with footsteps on the porch. Whoever it was was walking to me. Kendall. His black van wearing feet were in my view of sight. "How ya doing babe?" He asked rubbing my back. I shrugged. "You never told me that story." He whispered.
"You never asked." I replied.
"Very true my love." He said leaning his chin on my shoulder. "Are you gonna be okay?" He asked. I nodded.
"Eventually." I replied.
"You know, my dad noticed your necklace... He knew I gave it to you." Kendall informed me after a few minutes of silence.
"Really?" I asked staring straight in front of me.
"Yep, he's all worried we might be in too deep for our own good." He told me. I snorted, lifting my head to look at Kendall.
"I've been down too deep from day one." I smiled at him. Kendall smirked and then reached his hand over to my face and wiped my tears away.
"Don't cry anymore. Be thankful for the times we've shared, that you're alive, that you're healthy, and you're around people who make you feel safe." He smiled down at me. We both puckered our lips at the same time making us chuckle as we came in for a kiss. We eventually went back in and to everyone heading towards the kitchen. Everyone joined hands, Kendall on my left and Kathy on my right.
"Who would like to do the honors?" Kathy asked everyone. She considered me but I shook my head.
"Kendall it is!" Kevin said making me giggle. I held my breath as Kendall began the speech of the night.
