Chapter 58:
My breathing increased as I panicked. It's been at least one minute since Kendall last spoke. I felt dizzy, as if my knees could give out. I had to answer him right? I couldn't say 'rain check' and then go back to his parents home like he hasn't just proposed. I knew he and I could make it, but it's the not knowing that was scaring me. I wiped my eyes as Kendall sighed. His eyes fell sad. He thought I was saying no. "Yes." I whispered. It felt right to say yes to him. He was the one. His eyes looked up at me with a wide grin on his face.
"Oh my gosh, you said yes?!" He asked standing up. I giggled and nodded. He stood straight up and wrapped me in his arms, holding me to his body with a longing. This kiss was different than anything I've ever experience. It felt as if we were in a movie, it was perfect and more than I ever imagined. I pulled away and held his face in my hands.
"Yes!" I smiled as he let me look into his eyes were tears of joy had welled up. His smile made his eyes crinkle at the outer corners, which in the end made me the happiest person in the world.
Kendall then took the ring out of the box, took of my glove, and slipped it on my finger. He held up my hand in his as I smiled at the ring. It was flashy, it was unnecessary, but it resembled us. Kendall was simple and a total dork, yet extravagant. I was hidden, yet a diamond in the rough. We were reflected in this ring, it wasn't the biggest ring I've ever seen, but it was what I wanted. I wanted this ring, just because he gave it to me. He picked it out himself, as far as I knew, and he had it fitted perfectly to fit me. "I love you. I love you so much." I said crying and hugging Kendall around his neck as he picked me up and spun around on the ice.
"I love you!" He shouted as we spun. It was amazing.
Kendall and I were the happiest we've ever been in our whole lives. We walked back to the clerk, me hanging on his arm, but his fingers interlocked with mine. We walked back to the sleigh as Kendall picked me up with one hand under my knees and the other at the small of my back. "Kendall you're crazy!" I laughed. He laughed with me. He sat me down in the sleigh and joined me. The guy tipped his hat at us as he knew I had said 'yes'.
"Home sir!" Kendall announced. I started to feel the effects of not taking my medicine before we left and felt quite drowsy.
"Kendall?" I asked leaning my head on his shoulder. Our left hands were being held by one another's, and our rights were up by my shoulder since his arm was around me.
"Yes my love?" He asked as I felt his jaw moving on my hair.
"How long have you planned this? And I mean the proposal, not the 'knowing you would grow old with me' part?" I asked him yawning. He chuckled poking me in the cheek.
"I think you might remember... At Halloween, when we were in the parking lot, and you saw Logan hand me something? Well I had ordered the ring, but had it shipped to Logan's house. He had handed it to me. Then at Thanksgiving, I was going to propose, but I thought it was too soon. The thing I was looking at, which you thought was my phone and you thought I was texting someone and cheating? That was the ring in it's box." Kendall said rubbing the skin on my cheek with his extended finger. He was so sweet, how could I have thought he was cheating on me?
