Chapter 110:
Kendall cleared his throat, and took a shaky breath. He still held my hand as I saw cameras flashing to my right. "Wow, well I had a very long speech written out, but since you know best I'm going to follow your lead and wing it." Kendall said smiling at me. "Look at you, beautiful without even trying." He said almost in a mumble. "I can't help but feel so lucky to have you. You have never thought you'd get married, but here you are with me." He said smiling even more now as I felt tears well in my eyes one more time. He looked down again nervously and then stared back into my eyes as he spoke surely of what he was saying. The memories came back with the next reference of his vows.
"Your smile is like sunshine when my clouds are grey, your cheeks are pink from blush when I can't control myself and I let my mouth praise you forever, and your soul is as white as the purest rose that has ever blossomed within me. You truly fascinated me the moment we met, and I'm sure you'll be even more mesmerizing in the years to come. I'm so happy right now, to have the most amazing girl here to marry me, and to love me for who I am. Damn, I'm a lucky guy." He said breathless as the audience watching us laughed. He breathed a laugh as well and then continued. my eyes were shedding a tear slowly every few words or so. "We've known each other for only a year, but then again, we've experienced so much of a lifetime in just one year, that we know one another better than some couples whom have been married for sixty years." He smiled at me squeezing my hand surely.
"I'm sorry, I just can't get over you choosing me over any other man in the universe." I laughed at his incapability to see what I see everyday. "I promise to love you to the moon and back. I promise to help heal your sorrows, and help you celebrate your good fortune. I promise to protect and honor you. I wish for nothing but happiness for your life, and I intend on giving you that. You deserve the best." He paused a moment and looked at the audience for a second into mainly his co-workers, family, and friends, and a select few were here for me. I followed his gaze to the end of the aisle where I swore I could see a blurred out figure, and I suddenly felt overwhelmed with emotion. But what Kendall said next sent my emotions into a roller coaster because I wasn't the only one to feel the presence of 'her'.
"Your mother would be so proud of you, where you stand today at this very moment. As she once said, your beauty can outshine the moon and all it's stars." He told me as we looked back at one another. I closed my eyes letting the tears fall freely. I felt her here with us. It had to be. I opened them again to see Kendall wiping his own tears and him smiling trying to gather himself once more. "I love you so much Roberta, always and forever." He said caressing my cheek with his free hand. I smiled up at him my tears still falling. He took another shaky breath and pulled his hand away and looked to the preacher. "Okay, preacher man, hurry up! I can barely contain myself from not kissing her lips." He said loudly as myself, and everyone around us laughed.
"Do you, Kendall Francis Schmidt take she, Roberta Winona Adams, to be your lawfully wedded wife, for as long as you both shall live?" The preacher asked taking a step forward. Kendall smiled down at me devilishly.
"I do." He said.
"And do you, Roberta Winona Adams, take he, Kendall Francis Schmidt, as your lawfully wedded husband, for as long as you both shall live?" He asked. I smiled back at Kendall.
"Hell yeah I do." I smirked as everyone laughed. Kendall laughed himself.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, Mr. And Mrs. Kendall Schmidt, you may now kiss the bride." The preacher said taking a step back as I almost launched myself at Kendall. Everyone clapped as Kendall's and mines first kiss as husband and wife set shivers up my spine. His lips caressed mine as I felt him pull away.
"I love you." He whispered to me. I smiled pulling my arms away from his neck where they had found themselves.
"I love you too." I whispered back.
