Chapter 50:
The four of us in the kitchen eventually made our way into the living room where the two others must've decorated the tree and put presents under it. "Okay, just like every year, kids on the floor, who wants to be Santa and hand out the gifts?" Kathy asked turning up the Christmas music. Kent grabbed the camera just like in those cheesy movies. I giggled as we 'kids' sat on the ground and stared at one another seeing who was going to hand out gifts. Kendall sighed and held up a hand.
"I'll be Santa ma..." He told Kathy. He reluctantly stood up and walked past me and Kevin who were seated next to each other leaning against the fire place. Kendall picked up a big one and read who it was for. "To mom, from Kevin." He said handing it to her. She opened it quickly as we all watched with anticipation.
"Awe! A beautiful turquoise necklace. Kevy! Thank you!" She smiled at her son. He nodded and smiled.
"Alright, next one. This one is from Bobby and me, to dad." He smiled handing the fishing gear I had wrapped up to his father who graciously thanked us and smiled after he opened it. "To Kenneth from Bobby and me." Kendall smiled at his brother. His brother loved what we got him and it was seeming like Kendall was saving his and my gifts for last. Everyone got what we got them , and what they got each other. Now it was what they all got Kendall and me.
"To Bobby, from mom, dad, and Kenneth. Way to spend there Ken, attaching to mom and dad..." Kendall teased as Kenneth tried tripping him. Kendall handed me the gift which was as big as my lap. I slowly tore away the paper as everyone stared at me. The top of the box fell back and revealed my gift. Kathy truly adored my hair, and so she's bought me about fifteen different hair products that I've talked about getting with her but didn't know where to get them, accessories and a box of blonde dye for my fading blonde streak on the left side of hair.
"Awe! Oh my gosh! Kathy! Kenneth, and Kent! Oh my! I don't know what to say! Thank you guys so much!" I said as I took out a bow clip which was black but had a white skull in the middle, and I put it in my hair smiling at them as Kent took a picture.
"To Kendall, oh that's me, from mom, dad, and Kenneth." Kendall read off. He sat down on a chair and tore open the box and revealed a new case of guitar picks, looking like there was maybe hundreds. "Two hundred and fifty 'Heffron Drive' and 'Kendall Schmidt' Eco-Friendly guitar picks, thanks guys, wow won't run out of those any time soon! And they're rasta colored!" He smiled at his family. He hopped back up and looked at the two remaining presents which were obviously from Kevin to Kendall and me.
"Lets do Bobby's first shall we?" Kendall smiled and walked over and handed me the small box. I looked at Kevin and nudged his arm as he smirked. I tore open the box and saw a beautiful silver bracelet which looked so delicate. It had roses and vines engraved in the small band and had a red rose in the very middle of it.
"Awe! Kev! Thank you so much! It's beautiful!" I gasped immediately putting it on my wrist. I leaned over to give him a hug and held my wrist up for the camera to see as Kevin and I smiled at it. He must've seen my necklace that I always have around my neck that Kendall gave me and knew my favorite flower were roses.
"No problem." He told me.
"Okay! Last one of the night!" Kendall announced.
"Wait, you and Bobby didn't get each other anything?" Kent asked.
"No, she gets hers tomorrow from me, and I have to wait till when?" Kendall asked slowly ripping the paper on the present.
"January second is as soon as I can give it to you." I smiled as he smirked back. Everyone nodded whether they understood or not, as the baby Schmidt opened his gift from his brother. He held up a customized Heffron Drive hoodie which said 'Schmidt' on the back and 'Heffron Drive' on the front with a guitar, and a customized song book with some of Kendall's favorite quotes printed every so often through the books pages.
"Thanks man! That's awesome! Even though Bobby likes to take most of my hoodies..." Kendall said shooting me a glance and a smile.
"I figured so, so look inside your hoodie." Kevin smiled at Kendall. Inside was folded a slightly smaller replica of Kendall's hoodie, although on that ones back, it read, 'Schmidt's Girl.' I giggled as I read it.
"That's so cute! Put them on! We need a picture!" Kathy said with a huge grin. I stood up too fast and felt dizzy but put on the hoodie as Kendall did the same. I pulled my hair to the side and grabbed Kendall's hand as we both had it on. We stood with our backs to the camera as multiple flashes went off. I giggled as that was the end of an amazing night. This was the first Christmas I spent with people who treated me as family, and not just a friend of their son.
