Emerald POV~
"Maleena this is my daughter Emerald. Emerald, this is Maleena." My mother introduced me to the beautiful woman beside her.
"Nice to meet you." I said in an overly strained voice and fake smile.
I appreciated my mother's concern for me, but I didn't need for her to bring a new woman each time she came for a bloody visit! Just last week she had me meet three women. Who all seemed to have stepped straight out of a magazine. I had to admit, my mother sure knew how to pick them! But you can't just force yourself to feel something towards someone when the feelings are simply nonexistent!
"Your mother has told me alot about you." She said with a big smile.
"I bet she has." I rolled my eyes.
I could tell my mother seriously wanted me in a relationship. If she expected me to fall for one of the many women she brought, she was up for a rude awakening.
"Honey, Maleena has just moved into the city. Maybe you could take her out on a tour?" My mother suggested with a smile as she took off her expensive sunglasses.
A tour? Pshht no?!
Was my mom forgetting the media? I was no celebrity but that didn't mean that the media didn't find my love life interesting. If I was to take so much as a walk with her, the paparazzi would blow everything out of proportion. And I was not ready for all that attention .
"Mom I can't be seen with her in public. You know the paps would make it seem like there is something going on between us, and that is clearly not happening." I came out sounding harsher than I intended to.
"Emerald!" My mother scolded.
Maleena looked utterly shocked and offended.
"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound so harsh." I apologized.
"It's okay. I completely understand." Maleena answered.
I then motioned for them to step inside and I lead them towards the living room, where Betty and Ivette were watching yet another Disney movie. My mom headed inside the kitchen for a glass of water and I quickly trailed in after her.
"Are you out of your mind mother!?" I hissed. "First of all you bring someone different with you each time you visit. Secondly, how could you oh so casually suggest I take her on a damn walk around the city!? You know people are always prying for details about my love interests."
"I'm just looking out for you sweetheart. I think it's time you give a woman a try and actually date her. You need someone to love and someone to look after Ivette. Someone to cook for you and support you despite your busy schedule. Someone to-"
I groaned loudly as I covered my face with my hands. This was so frustrating! Why couldn't my mother understand? I could just bawl my eyes out in frustration!
"I appreciate you worrying mother. I really do. But you should leave my love life up to me. I will find myself a woman when the right time comes. Just stop bringing these damn women over! It irritates me. One day you will come visit me and you will find a beautiful woman by my side. Caring after me and Ivette." I snapped.
"Emerald Isabel Perez! Do not talk to me like that because I will not hesitate to smack you on the head. I don't care if people are watching." My mother told me with a stern expression.
I scoffed at this.
"Mom, I'm not a child! I'm twenty nine years old." I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah well, you'll always be a child in my eyes."
