Candice POV~

"Come in," I called out.

Thankfully my voice came out strong and confident because the truth was that I was extremely nervous.

I knew it had to be Nancy and Jane.

There were only like two minutes left before I went on my break.

Now, was I expecting Nancy to look all sexy and sh-t?

I did.

And I was not disappointed.

She was looking so f-cking sexy, I could feel myself getting all hot and flustered just by having her eyes on me. She could just stare at me with those green eyes and I'd be squirming in my seat.

So, I was expecting her to come looking all on point and sh-t.

What I wasn't expecting was for her to greet me with a gentle hug and a kiss on my temple.

I'm going to die, was my only thought as I felt my heart flutter in my chest.

"You b-tch need to do some talking." Jane glared.

"No hug or anything?" I pouted. "I've missed you so damn much. You're my soul sister and I just want to hug you so tight right now."

Jane finally succumbed to my pleads and she opened her arms for me.

I hugged her tightly and smiled.

There was nothing better than to have my best friend in town and being able to spend time with her again. I missed her more than words can express. I knew our communication wasn't the best–especially with all of the things happening in my life–but I did miss her. And I also knew that I had a lot of explaining to do.

I'm sure Jane had heard from Nancy about our divorce and she was most probably angry at me for not being the one to tell her about it.

"I–uh–brought you lunch," Nancy spoke softly and scratched her neck.

I smiled and thanked her for it.

I began to talk with Jane as I took a seat and began to look through the bag of food. Nancy pulled out a chair and took a seat, making herself comfortable. Meanwhile, I tried my best to concentrate on Jane and keeping our conversation going in order to avoid Nancy as much as possible. It wasn't that I didn't want to speak to her; I just didn't want my lunch break to be drowned in awkwardness.

Of course, my whole plan backfired the moment I opened the tray of food.

Enchiladas.

Green ones. My favorite food. And not only that, but my mind instantly traveled back to a certain memory.

*Flashback*

"Are you really going to eat those?" Nancy asked with raised eyebrows.

I laughed at the surprised look on her face. "I am. This is one of my favorite dishes. You should try it."

She began to shake her head as she refused.
