Emerald POV~

Ivette was with Scarlett.

That was all I could think about while I sat behind my desk. How could I get any type of work done when all I could think about was my daughter spending time with her previously gone mother?

I glanced out the office's window and noticed that it was still raining outside. Scarlett couldn't possibly have taken Ivette to the park in this weather. I then began to wonder what exactly she was doing with my daughter.

I glanced at my untouched phone that was placed face up on the mahogany desk.

Just call her already!

I reached out for my phone and quickly unlocked it. I spared a few minutes thinking whether I should call or not. I didn't want to talk to her, but I was really curious as to what Ivette was doing and where she was at. So without another thought I dialed Scarlett.

"Hey!" Her cheery voice picked up on the third ring.

"How's Ivette?" I quickly asked.

"She's fine Emerald, relax."

"Where are you at? It's raining, I'm sure you couldn't take her to the park." I pointed out.

"I didn't. I brought her home with me and we're currently sharing a cup of hot cocoa and watching a movie."

Hot cocoa, Ivette's favorite drink. How did Scarlett know these things? Was she really that good at guessing what Ivette likes?

"That's great. I have to go now. She better be back before eight." I warned her.

"You know you don't have to be such a jerk about it. I get it. I made a huge mistake when I abandoned her but I'm back now. I'm not leaving anytime soon. So please stop acting like I'm a careless, stupid and sh-tty mother. I know how to care after my daughter."

I glanced at my phone and noticed that Scarlett had ended the call.

I sat there, dumbfounded. Soon my shock turned into rage. Who does she think she is? She only came back a few days ago and now she wants to come and get snappy at me? After I gave her the chance to return in Ivette's life?

I think I deserved a little more respect than that.

I angrily stood from my chair and stormed out of my office. I decided to call it a day and head home early. It's not like I was doing much anyway. All I could think about was Ivette. I wanted my baby to be safe more than anything. And honestly Scarlett still needed to gain my trust.

I passed by my secretary and I told her I would head home.

"Just redirect my calls on my cellphone. Have a good day."

"Will do Ms. Perez, have a good day also ." My secretary wished me a farewell.

I waited for the doors of the elevator to open up. I waited impatiently and when the doors opened up I practically threw myself inside. I pressed the ground floor button and I leaned against the back wall. I closed my eyes in a failed attempt to rid the impounding headache that was starting to show up. I felt the elevator stop and the doors opening up before closing once again.
I didn't bother glancing at whoever stepped in, simply because I didn't care.

That's when I felt the person's presence stepping in front of me. I slowly opened my eyes and I looked straight into Sarah's blue orbs.

"Hey Emerald." She spoke so softly that I was unsure whether she had spoken or not.

"Hey." I nervously looked past her and noticed we were the only ones inside the elevator.

Sarah took a small step forward and I gulped. I was beginning to feel uncomfortable because of our close proximity. Sarah was wearing a tight fitting skirt and a blouse that fit her perfectly. Her long blonde hair was pulled up in a high ponytail.

"You need to take a step back." I muttered.

Or else I won't be able to keep my hands to myself...

"I'm sure that's the opposite of what you want." She smirked.

"It's the best thing to do." I shrugged.

"I'm sure we can both agree on other things to do instead."

"Like what?" I raised a brow.

"Like this."

With one final step she closed the distance between us and her lips crashed against mine. Her hands cupped my face as she pulled me down, closer towards her. Just as I wrapped my arms around her waist and moved my lips against hers, she pulled away.

I clenched my jaw when I saw her smirking.

Such a tease, I thought to myself.

She slowly pulled me in for another kiss and I wasted no time to return it. Her teeth clamped my bottom lip and she roughly bit into it making me hiss in pain. I wouldn't be surprised if blood began to seep out. She then softly sucked on it and eased away the pain.

I then pushed her against the elevator doors and began to place kisses on her neck. She moaned when I bit into her skin and planted an open mouthed kiss over the bite.

"I think we should stop here." I muttered completely out of breath.

"For now."

"For now." I assured her.

We then pulled back and Sarah began to fix her clothing. I did the same. When the elevator doors opened, Sarah sent me a wink before disappearing down the hall.

I also stepped out and made my way out of the building. Not quite believing what had just happened behind those elevator doors.
