Candice's POV~
As soon as I stepped inside the house and walked into the living room, I was aware of Audrey's worried glances.
That was enough to send my emotional wheel spinning and have me back in a pissed off state.
It wasn't her I was mad at, I just couldn't control my feelings at the moment. And having her staring at me wasn't really helping. It actually ticked me off.
"So...how'd it go?" She asked cautiously.
"I don't want to talk about it, Audrey." I snapped.
Her eyebrows shot upwards and she stood up from the couch. "I don't know how bad it was but you need to calm down. I told you–"
"I don't give a sh-t about what you told me!" I spat out. "Just leave me the f-ck alone."
She clenched her jaw before turning around and leaving silently.
I instantly felt bad for yelling at her. I had no right to barge in her house and take out my anger on her. She was only trying to help me, after all.
I got up with my mind set on apologizing to her but just when I was about to head upstairs— the doorbell resonated throughout the house.
I was confused as to who it could be. I supposed it was for Audrey, but I headed for the door anyway, because I doubted Audrey would get it.
And imagine my surprise when I saw an anxious Emerald standing there.
"I remember telling you not to—"
I was interrupted by Emerald's lips crashing down on mine and her hand quickly found its way to the back of my neck.
I was shocked.
I was seriously so caught off guard that it took me a few minutes to regain my ability to move, talk and think.
So when I was finally able to function, I pulled away from Emerald and I gave her a good f-cking slap across the face.
"Who the hell do you think you are?!" I screeched.
A bewildered looking Emerald stared back at me.
Ah, the perfect person to let out my frustration with...
Finally Emerald rubbed her jaw and she gave me a small smile, "I probably deserved that."
"Probably?" I scoffed. "You deserve more than that! You're an asshole and I honestly have nothing else to say to you. I was actually serious the other day when I told you not to show up until that dinner."
"Which is tomorrow night. And knowing you, you probably don't even have a dress yet." She smirked.
I glared at her and admittedly cocked my head.
"Leave," I muttered as I made an attempt to close the door.
"No Candice, wait!" She exclaimed as her foot wedged itself between the door and its frame.
"Oh, what do you want?" I complained suddenly feeling very irritated.
"I want to take you to your bedroom and f-ck the frustration out of you." She replied with wide innocent eyes.
I tried to bite back my smile, but it was useless. Emerald caught it and she rewarded me with a huge, heart melting and charming smile of her own.
"Can we talk?" She softly asked.
I rolled my eyes and opened the door for her. I knew arguing with her would be useless. She was very stubborn and if I didn't give her the chance to talk now, she wouldn't leave until I did so.
I took a seat on the couch and gestured for her to do the same.
"What do you want?" I asked, getting straight to the point.
She let out a breath and patted her lap. I immediately rewarded her with a furious glare.
"I'm not getting on your lap." I hissed.
"I need you on my lap because what I'm about to say is very earth shattering and you'll need the support." She giggled adorably.
"F-ck you Emerald."
"Please baby, go right ahead." Emerald replied in a sultry voice as she began to invade my personal space. "Don't mind me."
I felt her warm breath tickling my neck and I gulped.
How did I go from being pissed off, to highly annoyed and extremely turned on the next?
I had no idea.
I yelped in surprise when Emerald made a quick grab of me and effortlessly propped me on her lap.
"Much better." She piped up and a smug smile graced her features. "Now, like I was saying—"
I didn't even stop to think before my fist connected with her face.
Emerald groaned and the distraction caused her to loosen her grip on me. I then quickly climbed off of her lap.
"What was that for?" Emerald asked in utter disbelief.
"I don't like to be manhandled." I shrugged.
"I wasn't manhandling you!" Emerald raised her voice. "This will leave a bruise on my face! And I can't show up at the Muhatti event looking like I just stepped out of a f-cking brawl!"
"Well too bad. You should've thought about that before trying your little stunts. What did you expect?! For me to ride you like we're all good and peachy? We aren't on good terms Emerald, in case you've forgotten. So I suggest you think properly before acting out again."
She lifted her hands in a surrendering manner. "I'm sorry."
I crossed my arms and stared her down.
"I'm sorry for being a complete dick towards you in the past few days. I'm sorry for my rude comments and for being completely senseless towards you. I honestly don't know why I acted the way I did, but it certainly wasn't a pleasurable thing seeing you cry. Baby, I was being inconsiderate towards you and I am truly, deeply sorry. I didn't mean to be an ass this morning but I couldn't stand that woman being so near you. I guess I was just being jealous —"
Wait, what?...
Before I continued listening to her apology I took a moment to actually think about what she said.
'I didn't mean to be an ass this morning but I couldn't stand that woman being so near you. I guess I was just being jealous...'
She embarrassed me in front of everyone just because she was feeling possessive?
That set off a warning bell in my mind.
I couldn't deal with possessiveness and jealousy overpowering a person's thinking.
"—I'll try to be less of an ass when I see someone near you. I also wanted to apologize beforehand for the kiss I'm about to steal from you in a moment. Baby, can you please ice my face?" She pouted.
I shook my thoughts away and I muttered my response. "I will but I want you to leave afterward. I've got a lot of thinking to do and you're not helping."
Emerald gave me an understanding smile while taking a seat on the couch again. Meanwhile, I headed to the kitchen for an ice pack.
My mind a cluttered mess.
