Candice POV~
After going home for a quick shower. Emerald and I lay on my bed. We were supposed to go out but she claimed to be completely sore and we decided to lie down for a couple of hours before going back out.
I didn't blame her.
Her body was completely covered in purplish bruises but she seemed to be taking it well. It's not like she had much of a choice anyway.
Emerald had her elbow propped up and her head was resting on the palm of her hand. She was staring at me adoringly as her right hand played with my hair. Her finger twirled with a strand of my hair and she began to mumble how gorgeous I was.
"Let's go out for lunch." Emerald suddenly piped up.
"I thought you were slowly dying and needed to rest," I repeated the exact words she had said to me a few moments ago.
"I might have exaggerated a bit." She stuck her tongue out at me.
"Of course you did, crybaby." I poked her chest.
"I want to take you somewhere." She quickly stood up from the bed. "In fact, let's go out of town. I'm taking you to my hometown. Where people were blessed with the sight of a childish Emerald. The place of my childhood and long-lived –"
"Gosh, you are so dramatic! Besides, the sight of a childish Emerald? Babe, you're still childish as f-ck." I burst out laughing.
Emerald scoffed at my words and pretended to be seriously offended by them. I finally had to admit that I was only joking because her stubborn self wouldn't talk to me until I did.
"This is really spontaneous," I said as I climbed inside Emerald's shiny red car. "Is this special? Or do you usually take girls out of town to visit your childhood neighborhood?"
She paused before backing out of the driveway. "You're the first girl besides Betty and Scarlett."
"So it is very special." I blew out a breath.
I was actually honored to know that Emerald was driving me to her hometown and willing to share these memories of hers with me. She then informed me it would be a two-hour drive, so I might as well get comfortable.
I took her advice and I instantly made myself comfortable against the leather seat. I propped my left arm on the center console and I rested my cheek against the palm of my hand, concentrating on Emerald and her beautiful features.
How could someone be so gorgeous?
She was honestly too gorgeous for her own good. She was dressed in something simple, yet it was very alluring. She had on black jeans, a dark red, short sleeved blouse that was see through–allowing me a view of her lacy black bra, and black ankle boots. Her dark hair was straightened and it was currently being blown everywhere because of the wind that came in through her opened window. And then there was that stupid arrogant smirk on her face that confused me up to the point where I didn't know whether I wanted to slap it off her face or to kiss her so badly.
Yeah, I think it was the latter.
"Are you done checking me out, Candie?" Emerald stifled a laugh.
I hushed her almost immediately. "No. Now shut up and let me concentrate."
Her smile widened revealing her pearly white teeth. How were her teeth so perfect?
"Okay. If you need to examine me from a different angle, just let me know and I'll see to it."
There was that cocky little grin again.
There was something different about Emerald today. I couldn't exactly point my finger on it but I sure as hell noticed. Ever since this morning, she seemed adamant on accomplishing something. I could see the determination in her eyes. I saw it earlier at the paintball game and I saw it just right now when I smiled at her. Then there was the fact that she hadn't made a sexual innuendo during the whole time we've spent together. She would usually make a sexual comment every two or three minutes and that's saying something.
