Emerald POV~

"I was not staring at that woman!" I pleaded my case.

A few days had passed and our relationship was getting stronger. Even if it had been only a few days that we've been together–we just had that connection.

"Yes, you were!" Candice shot back as she plopped down on the couch.

I followed after her and purposefully dropped my ass on top of her legs. She groaned and pushed me off of her mumbling how 'fat' I was. I laughed as I rolled onto the space besides her.

"Aren't we supposed to still be in the sweet, mushy, name calling phase? Like you call me babe and I call you babushka?" I widened my eyes innocently.

"You did not just say that." Candice slowly replied.

"Actually I did, babushk–"

She smacked my forehead and I yelped out in surprise as my head snapped back, completely unexpected.

"That hurt!" I complained.

She rolled her eyes at me but I could see the small smile she was trying to bite back. She leaned over me and snatched the TV remote off the couch's armrest. Her elbow pressed down on me and I had a feeling that Candice had done it purposefully.

What a tease.

"You're busting my imaginary balls." I groaned out dramatically.

She choked out a laugh. "You're unbelievable."

"So you aren't mad at me anymore?" I chastised hopefully.

"Yes, I'm still mad!" She quickly refuted as she surfed the channels.

"But you were just laughing!" I shot up from the couch as I exclaimed with disbelief.

"I forgot I was mad in the first place."

"You can't be mad over the fact that some girl came unto me." I placed my hands on my hips.

"That's not the reason I'm mad." She replied nonchalantly as her eyes briefly unglued from the television.

"Then why exactly are you mad about?" I was getting more and more confused by the second.

"I don't know, Emerald. You tell me." She finally set the remote aside, casting all of her attention on me. All playfulness had left her tone and I knew we were about to get serious.

I glanced at the TV and I couldn't help but chuckle at the movie she had decided to watch. She had no idea it was actually one of my favorites.

"Let me see." I began as the day's events began to run in my mind. I rubbed my chin thoughtfully as I continued to speak. "We headed out for a walk– you were completely fine then. Actually, everything was fine until the moment we stepped into that restaurant. We sat down and a waitress in a skimpy outfit came to take our orders. She–"

"I'm glad to know the first thing you noticed was her skimpy clothing." Candice interrupted me with a glare.

"Well, she barely had any clothing. I mean, it was probably the first thing you noticed too." I defended myself.

She was completely right though. The first thing I did notice was the lack of clothing covering the girl's body. She had been very attractive, I must confess.

Of course, Candice did not have to know that!

"Yes, I did. But I wasn't ogling her when she was taking our orders." She snapped back.
