Candice POV~
I stood there, shell shocked at just how beautiful this place was. Emerald had definitely went all out on this date. The fact that she even thought about it this much had me melting into a puddle!
I admit, I was always the cliché type of person when it came down to these things. I preferred a picnic over a fancy dinner at some expensive restaurant. I preferred hand written letters over chocolates or roses. I was old fashioned and I wasn't embarrassed to admit so!
"Wow!" I finally breathed out.
"For moment there I was afraid you had forgotten how to breathe." Emerald joked.
I laughed at her and I took in the beauty of this place. We were standing on what seemed to be an isolated wooden gazebo.
In the middle of the beach.
Well technically I didn't know if we actually were in the middle of the beach, but I'm sure you catch my drift.
The Gazebo's structure was amazingly done and it didn't seem so old in appearance. I was surprised that it held up well and that we weren't floating away. It seemed pretty solid in it's structure.
The sun was beginning to lower itself in the horizon and it had dabbed the sky in beautiful purples, pinks and reds. The way the colors reflected off of the water made the sunset beautiful on a whole different level. Surrounding the gazebo was a bunch of floating miniature candles and blue orchids were also floating around. If I thought the limo held enough flowers, I was proven wrong.
Then there was a table in the center of the gazebo and it was decorated with candles, silver platters and a huge bouquet of white roses.
"Do you like it?" Emerald whispered in my ear.
"I love it."
She took my hand in hers and she led me towards the table. Proving her gentlemanly gestures, she pulled the chair out for me. If I hadn't swooned for her enough, this definitely did the job!
"I hope you enjoy dinner," Emerald replied sheepishly.
I could see a faint blush tinting her cheeks as she uncovered the silver platter that was on the table's center.
On the platter stood a mount of sandwiches.
I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled inside of me. Immediately it left my mouth and I tried to cover it up. I knew Emerald was embarrassed for some reason. But I found it really sweet on her behalf.
"I know, laugh all you want. But these ham sandwiches are the bomb and I made them myself." She boasted with a proud smile.
"I appreciate it honestly," I confessed. "It's just the way you were all shy about it that made me laugh."
"Well, it is embarrassing. But this is the only thing I can cook and I didn't want to ruin the date by simply buying take out. This is meant to be something special. So I had to go all out and make sure everything was done personally. Except for the gazebo, though. I had to get other people to do this or else we probably wouldn't even be able to stand on it without toppling over." Emerald explained.
"First of all, making sandwiches isn't considered as cooking, but I get what you mean. So you got this made just today?" I gestured to the structure in which we were on.
"Yes." She took out two plates and gestured for me to eat. "Hope you enjoy dinner! And hurry up. We only have about ten minutes before your next surprise."
"What is it?" I asked giddily.
"I believe I just said it's a surprise." She replied with a smug smile.
