Emerald's POV~

The limousine drove into the Perez's Demount front entrance and came to a stop in front of its huge crystal doors. There was a long red carpet rolled out from the doors all the way to the curb.

My driver opened the door for me and I stepped out.

I carefully fixed my dress and adjusted a stray strand of hair that had slipped out of my hairdo. I then held my head high and I made my way towards the entrance. My Jimmy Choo's clicking against the ground . I instantly noticed a few photographers stationed on the outside of the restaurant, snapping pictures through windows or side doors. I rolled my eyes.

Of course they would come without authorization.

"Good evening ma'am." One of the two men stationed outside the crystal doors greeted.

I smiled at them and I nodded a thanks as they opened the doors for me.

I was immediately engulfed in a gold theme. Crystal chandeliers were shining brightly and the floor length windows were wiped spotless. The tables were clad in white. There were glass cups neatly stacked up in pyramids and white napkins were neatly folded up in origami swans. It was beautiful. Everything was set up perfectly and I was thankful for that.

"Good evening Ms. Perez. All the reservations and requests were carried out as you wished." A voice behind me spoke.

I turned around and faced a beautiful woman. By her attire and clipboard I could only guess she was the one in charge of carrying out and organizing tonight's event.

"Thank you. You did a perfect job, it looks beautiful." I complimented with a smile.

"You're welcome Ms. Perez." Her flustered face seemed awfully cute.

"Please, call me Emerald." I smiled at her again, causing her to become slightly nervous. "Would you like to join me for a glass of champagne?"

"I'm sorry, but I'm still on my shift and I take my job very seriously."

Gosh, she was so committed and hardworking. I knew there was a reason I had promoted her in the first place.

"I'm not going to fire you, if that's what you think. I just want to share a glass of champagne with you. I have to wait for more people to arrive and it'd be a shame if I had to drink all by myself resembling a loner. So please–" I waited for her to give me her name.

"Dalèt."

"Please, Dalèt, would you join me for a glass of champagne?"

A smile illuminated her features and I returned it with one of my own. I then led her towards the bar that was on the far side of the restaurant's interior. I asked for two glasses of champagne, which were immediately served.

"Dalèt is a very pretty name. Where are you from?" I asked her as I handed her a glass of champagne.

"Brazil."

"Wow, one of many places I love!"

She gave me a slight smile as she tilted her glass and sipped.

I raised my eyebrow at her, silently asking her if I was meant to catch onto a second meaning.

"You have an amazing smile." I complimented instead.

Her cheeks immediately flushed and her eyes tore away from mine. "Thank you. I'm sure–"

"Emerald, hey!"

Dalèt was rudely interrupted by Sarah.

Her arms came around me for a quick hug and I was baffled by her sudden appearance. Sarah was a great assistant and all, but I didn't really appreciate the way she rudely interrupted my conversation. She came off like a complete b-tch and caused Dalèt a huge embarrassment.

I could tell by the way she flushed red immediately and how she quickly dismissed herself claiming she had to get back to work.

"Sarah, I was having a conversation, you can't just come and interrupt me like that." I scolded her.

A pout instantly came on her face and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

Honestly Sarah's move was uncalled for and extremely uncool. It had bothered me greatly and I didn't want to currently be around anyone that interrupted my conversations acting as if they were far much important than whatever it was I was speaking about.

"More people are arriving. I need to go and greet them, so if you don't mind, I have to go."

I dismissed myself and left a confused Sarah standing there motionless.

Technically, I didn't have to greet anyone personally. I'd do that whenever I stepped on the podium and gave my speech. But since it was the only excuse I could think of to get away from Sarah, well, I took it.

As I was greeting people and shaking hands with them, my eyes landed on a very beautiful woman.

A certain someone that had just upped and left me moments ago actually.

What is she doing here? I couldn't help but think.

Her gorgeous body was clad in a gold, floor length dress. It was strapless and it had a big cut on the back, exposing her soft skin that had me wishing I could run my hands all over it.

With a determined mindset, I began to make my way towards her and I made sure to lean in very closely before whispering in her ear.

"Que sorpresa verte aqui, Candie."

I didn't even try to cover up the strained tone from interlacing itself in my words. I knew she wouldn't understand them, yet I still meant them.

What a surprise to see you here, Candie.
