^^ Nancy^^
Nancy's POV~
"So this is where you live?"
I turned around and stared at the teenager that was now standing inside my house.
"Yes. Sorry if it seems too disappointing but I haven't really been here much." I shrugged.
Her fingers brushed over a framed picture before lifting it in her hand and staring at it. I continued to look at her.
"Is this Candice?" Her eyes locked with mine.
"Yeah, that's her." I half smiled.
The truth was that it still hurt to think that Candice had in fact left me already. It's been a little more than two weeks since she left. A week or so since I had last seen her. I was still clinging to the hope that she would come back.
Even for a moment.
I still clung to the hope that one day, she'd step through my front door. Even if it was just a visit to come pick up her things. Any reason was worth it– so long as I got a chance to see her again.
"I still can't believe you guys began to like each other after she got hit with a helmet." The girl laughed. "If I were her I'd kind of hate you for it. I mean, I'd have suffered a humiliation in front of the whole school."
I laughed at what she was saying. I had to admit; we didn't have the most romantic encounter. That's for sure! I stopped laughing when I heard just how empty the house sounded. My laugh being the only noise throughout it all. I glanced around the junky house. It had once been clean, spacious and homey.
Now it was littered with empty beer bottles, cups and empty take out trays. There were mud stains caused by my boots on the floor and the house was dark due to the closed blinds. It looked abandoned if anything.
I felt myself close to losing it and I knew that this teenager needed to get away. I wasn't one to expose my emotions. And I was feeling really emotional right now.
"Look, I'm so sorry but you need to leave." I breathed out.
"Are you okay?" She worriedly asked.
"Yeah– just...go." I looked away from her. "I need to clean up."
There was a moment of silence. Complete and utter silence. I guess the girl must have sensed my inner turmoil and noticed just how silent and empty the house was, because she instantly began picking up her things.
"Okay. I'll just drop by later." I heard her stop at the door before leaving. "Don't do anything crazy."
The front door closed.
Don't do anything crazy? I scoffed at this.
Ever since that dinner my life has been crazy. Up to the point where I now hung out with a teenager. What was her motive anyway? After telling her how Candice and I met, she decided it was a good idea to become friends. Why? I had no idea.
I couldn't even remember her name. Not like it mattered anyway. I wasn't expecting to see her much. We hung out a bit, but nothing more. I was too preoccupied with other important matters for me to begin questioning her motives or reasons to befriend me.
I let out a loud sigh once she left.
Candice
What was she doing right now? Did she even think of me? I doubt she did.
Why would she think of the monstrous woman that ruined her life while she was spending time with the most wonderful and sweet woman ever?, I thought bitterly.
