Riley walked down the steep hill from her house, heading to the school which was a few streets away. She liked walking alone; she didn't have to make an effort with herself. She plugged her earbuds into her phone and played some music as she made her journey towards her destination. She walked down the middle of the sidewalk, watching her shoe laces flop around every time she took a step. She noticed that it was a cold morning, but it was still sunny. She watched the early traffic and the people inside their cars drive to their work so they can start their days. She was just like everyone else.

She reached a crossing and paused, looking from left to right. She walked across it, glancing at the car which was waiting for her and recognized the driver who was a girl that was in her grade. They hardly talked to each other, so Riley didn't smile or wave as she passed. She got onto the other side of the road and quickly arrived at the Beacon Hills High School.

She sighed as she turned her music off, unplugging her earbuds as she wrapped them up and shoved them in her pocket while she held her phone in her hand. She walked up the front steps, satisfied with the lack of notice by her fellow classmates and went inside, going to her locker. As soon as she reached it, the bell for home-group had rung. Most of the kids made little effort to move, but the freshmen were scurrying around, trying to find their first class of the day. She remembered her very first day of freshmen year. God, what a terrible year for everyone. She'd rather not get into it.

Riley unlocked her locker and put some books and binders inside that were weighing her bag down. She slammed the door shut to make sure it locked before going to her homeroom. The class was all restless and bored at the same time as it was the first lesson on a Monday.

"Alright class, be quiet." Mr. Harris called from his seat at the front desk, as he started to mark the role. Riley's eyes wandered over to Isaac who was sitting a few seats in front of her. He kept his back to her the entire class and didn't turn around once. Riley sighed as she picked at her pencil case out or boredom, since there was no one next to her to talk to. Sometimes, she would sit with Isaac, but only if they hadn't fought prior.

She looked around the classroom again, spotting Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski sitting together. Obviously. They were both engrossed in conversation with each other, until Scott sat up and looked over his shoulder, spotting Riley as she stared at him. She kept staring, even though Scott was staring as well. Riley felt a bit uncomfortable with this level of intimacy, even thought they were on opposite sides of the classroom. His ears suddenly perked up as he looked out of the window. Riley followed his gaze, seeing a girl running towards the school.

Riley thought she looked familiar, until she realized that it was Allison Argent, the girl that Riley saw in her car that morning. Riley watched Scott, who was moving his head as if he could see Allison walking through the entrance. She stared, wondering if he was just pretending he could see her. He probably was -- it's not like he can see through walls.

Riley took out her phone and hid it behind her pencil case, where she proceeded in texting her best friend Olivia, who was in the classroom next to her. Riley hated that they were in different classes, but she was sure the teachers loved it. Olivia and her always talked in class nonstop.

She quickly locked her phone when she heard a knock at the door and hid it in her pencil case, assuming that it was another teacher. The staff didn't really care about mobile phones in class, but there was always those select few who would go insane if they saw one in their lesson. The door opened and Allison, who looked a bit dishevelled, turned her head at Mr Harris and looked at him in an apologetic way.

"Sorry I'm late sir; I had car troubles." She said uneasily, and went to sit down at the front. Car troubles? When? Riley walked past her when they were literally in front of the school, so Allison should have been in class at the same time Riley was. What was she lying about?
