Isaac had saved the day when he realized he forgot his phone at the lair and biked all the way back there to retrieve it. He found Riley on the ground looking terrified as Derek and Erica both had transformed into werewolves. Derek explained what was happening, and how he was going to kill Riley, but Isaac had told Derek what he saw on the night of the attack and explained that him and Riley had hung out on numerous occasions in which the Kanima had attacked someone and she was by his side at all times. Derek was very confused, as he did not sense a change in his heartbeat. Isaac was not lying, but it did not convince Derek very much.
Isaac had went against his pack to save Riley, even though Derek, the leader, wanted Riley dead. Isaac sacrificed his spot on Derek's pack to spare Riley's life. He saved her. Riley thought that she must be the only person he really cared about the most. She knew how much a pack meant to a werewolf, so for Isaac to go against his Alpha took a lot of courage. Riley had owed him her life.
Isaac threw his bike in the back of Riley's car where he drove her back to her house. Riley was shaking, realizing that she was just about to be killed. She couldn't believe what Isaac had just done for her. She never realized that she meant so much to him. She looked at him for a long time, noticing that he looked very stressed and angry. His hands were turning white from gripping the wheel so hard.
He kept muttering to himself and shaking his head, driving a bit fast. Riley stared at him, for once actually looking at him and appreciating him. The moonlight cascaded down his face and chest, giving his skin a soft glow. Riley could see a vein poking out the side of his neck and his jaw was tensed. He kept his eyes locked on the road, and they finally made it to her house. He pulled up into the driveway and parked outside of the garage. He shut the engine off, and they both sat in the car, taking in what happened.
Isaac sighed, slowing letting go of the wheel and closing his eyes. He rubbed his face, and sat there with his head on the head rest. Riley didn't know what to say or do. Derek really must hate the Kanima, even though it didn't do anything to him.
"I need you to tell the sheriff that you lied about mine and my father's relationship." Isaac said quietly, which took Riley by surprise. She had told the sheriff so long ago, why would Isaac ask now? Well, doing this would be the least that she could do considering he saved her life.
She looked at Isaac, who was looking at his legs and she nodded.
"Of course." She replied, not wanting to ask why. She didn't need to. "Isaac, I can't... Thank you enough, for what you did. I mean, you went against your pack, for me. I had no idea that I meant so much to you, I'm sorry that this happened. I was so stupid to think that you were the one texting me. I really am sorry that this happened."
Isaac didn't respond, instead he just unplugged his seatbelt and retracted it.
"We'd better get you inside. Get you safe." He said, and she nodded. She unbuckled her seatbelt and got out, Isaac following suit. They entered the house, Riley opening the door for Isaac, and they both went quietly up to her room, careful not to wake her mum who was still asleep on the couch. Riley was glad that she didn't school that day, because there was no way she would be able to stay awake that long. It was already the morning, and Riley couldn't wait to go to sleep.
They got to her room and Riley shut the door, turning to Isaac who was looking at her sadly.
"Stay in your house and don't go out alone, okay? I don't want you to get hurt." Isaac demanded, and Riley nodded. They stood there, and Riley bit her lip and she got a bit nervous to ask a question. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, of course." She replied, and looked up at him sheepishly. "Actually... To be honest, I'm not. I mean, I was almost killed. Derek and Erica showed no remorse. I can't believe that it almost happened. I've known Erica most of my life, we went to primary school together... I can't believe that she would do that..." Riley trailed off, and held her arms. "Um, could I ask you something?"
Isaac looked at her with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Yeah, of course." He replied, and Riley edged closer to him as she wrapped her arms around him. She rested her head on his chest as she smelled his cologne. That smell always made her feel like home. Isaac's heartbeat was a little on the fast side as he held her as well. He buried his face in her hair, noticing how smooth it was. She stood there in each other's arms for a while, staying in the moment.
"Will you stay with me?" She whispered, her eyes welling up at the memory of almost dying. She never knew that Derek was that malicious. She never knew that he was capable of actually killing an innocent teenager. Honestly, how can Derek just assume that she was the one who was killing people? Seriously, her? She could not believe it. Isaac smiled in her hair and nodded.
"Of course."
